Gwen Zamora on playing different kinds of characters: “I’ve done so many different types of roles—from good to bad, nag-kontrabida ako, nag-goody-goody, drama and comedy... so ang sarap.”

“This is my fourth year, I have three more years,” umpisang pahayag ni Gwen Zamora nang tanungin siya ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) tungkol sa kontrata niya sa GMA Artist Center.

“There was [TV]5 before, but no, I’m happy where I am now.”

DREAM ROLE. Ano ba ang dream role ni Gwen?

“Mentally-ill or tomboy,” mabilis niyang sagot.

“No naman, no. Never take ten, no. Walang nagte-take ten,” depensa naman ni Gwen.

“I don’t like to compare myself especially with people that I work with.

“I see her every Monday [sa taping ng Bubble Gang], she’s like my sister na in showbiz, so parang we just work together.”

THEATER TRAINING.

“Well, it’s good that they recognize that kasi I really studied acting talaga before in Australia and in China and in Thailand.

“I started acting when I was fourteen in Australia... eight months.

"It was parang one of my courses—theater.

“In China, I was teaching kids naman... drama acting, from age six to ten [years old].

“That was for about nine months. I was just there for my gap year, between high school and college.

“I started acting in Singapore.

"Actually, it was my first time taking drama as a course.

“’Coz I came from a French school. Sa French school... history, math, the main subjects.

“Pero it was my first time moving to an Ivy school where you can pick your subjects. Then I picked Drama.

“Sabi ko, ‘Why not?’

"Kasi I was super-shy before. And after that, parang I fell in love with it... hindi na ako tumigil.”

VERSATILE.

Kuwento niya, “First soap ko, Grazilda. After noon, Machete and Alakdana, and then Biritera, and then Aso Ni San Roque.”

Never daw siyang nag-demand sa GMA-7 na bigyan siya ng solo show o show na siya ang bida.

“Ah, no. Like one step at a time,” sabi ni Gwen.

“If they think I’m not ready, okay, but I always do the best that I can with each role that I do.

“And I’m glad that GMA, binibigyan ako ng mga character roles, iba’t iba talaga yung mga roles ko—from maarte to seductive, to fairy like sa Enteng [Kabisote] and mother roles.

“I’ve done so many different types of roles—from good to bad, nag-kontrabida ako, nag-goody-goody, drama and comedy—so ang sarap.

“I get to spread my horizons with my craft.”

Kung papipiliin si Gwen between drama and comedy, ano ang mas gusto niya?

“I can’t pick talaga, both talaga,” sagot niya.

“I started with clowning when I first started the craft of acting, clowning ang ginawa ko.

“To be honest, the hardest to do is comedy and once you get it, ang sarap ng feeling.

“Pero drama, I never knew that I was able to cry until my third year of acting and ang sarap din.

“Once you have a tear that came from within, ang sarap ng feeling.”

“I can make my face ugly!” sabay-tawa ni Gwen.

“People laugh at me naman, e.

“I guess the content of the written comedy... iyon na lang ang sasakyan ko.”

MEN’S MAGAZINE COVER.

“I feel like I don’t need to do that. Maybe when I’m older... way older,” at muli siyang natawa.

Dahil ba isang men’s magazine ang FHM?

“It’s not that, it’s just not the image that I want to portray.

“I’m very conservative in the sense... even though I’m very western and outspoken, conservative pa rin ako with my body.”

Sexy naman siya talaga at puwedeng pang-men’s magazine.

“No, I’m just good at hiding my body!” muli siyang natawa.

“Pero I’m working on it, I started working out na...

“I started kickboxing, I started running every morning, I started swimming, tapos full on diet na ako.

“And I’m happy YSA is starting parang new meals, parang Southbeach Diet, they send you food every day.”

“I’ll revise the script and the character and see from there.”

At kung may love scene?

“If it is needed, yes,” tugon naman niya.

“It depends talaga, e. I have to see how it is, how it’s dealt with.

"Kasi pag naka-full-on nude, no!

“Kung may [bandeau] tapos it’s artistically done, na suggestive lang, why not?

"Pero kung full-on, no, I don’t think so.”

“Dennis Trillo. He’s really a good actor and he’s nice to work with... he’s very receptive.

“Aljur [Abrenica], he’s very charming.”

DISLIKES.

“I hate dressing up,” sabay-tawa niya.

“Yes! It is a challenge to find clothes and I’m super picky.

"I’m picky about the color, I’m picky about the texture, I’m picky about the cloth...

"It has to be a certain way of cloth, it can’t be too polyester, it has to be like cotton.”

LIKES.

“No. Kasi after working hours, I’m very to myself, personal, I go back to my old life.

“Hindi ako yung type na, ‘Ay, look at me, I’m Gwen Zamora, walking down the street!’ No.”

Kapag wala siya sa harap ng kamera…

“I hang-out with my friends, I go to the gym, and I read books.

“I started reading. It’s my New Year’s resolution ’coz I realized I haven’t read a book in a year or more than a year.

“My fave book is Eleven Minutes by Paulo Coelho.

“You really see yourself as the girl and then you contemplate your choices... if it’s right, if it’s wrong.

“Alam mo yung he gives you all the wrong so that you can see the right.”

“It’s really good.

“No, he’s not from showbiz.

“Well, he’s all over my Instagram,” sabay tawa ni Gwen.

Wala pang balak magpakasal sina Gwen at Raymond.

“No naman, we’re still young, take it one step at a time.”

“I don’t need to think about that because I’m with a very understanding man.”

“Maybe I’ll slow down but I would definitely not stop—I love acting, e.”
