Stephanie Retuya, the Filipino contestant in Asia’s Next Top Model, has made it to the Top 3 of the competition.
Stephanie will be competing in the finals on February 17 against Taiwan’s Kate Ma and Thailand’s Jessica Amornkuldilok.
America’s Next Top model and producer Tyra Banks will be in attendance at the finale.
Asia’s Next Top Model began with fourteen contestants from different Asian countries: China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
Each week, a contestant is eliminated until only the top three remain.
Stephanie’s climb to the Top 3 was not an easy one.
She has been in the bottom two five times and never been a winner of the photo shoots.
But Stephanie managed to survive and even made it to the finale.
In a bio sent to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), we learned that Stephanie is a part-time model and a full-time mother to a baby girl.
She only started modelling about a year ago, and discovered that modelling is not work to her because she feels completely in her element.
Her budding modelling career was soon interrupted because she got pregnant, and she now feels that surge of desire to continue pursuing what she believes is meant for her.
For someone who is very passive and shy, she is busting a big move to fulfill her dream by taking part in this reality TV competition.
She has never travelled outside of her country, and grew up thinking she was freakishly tall and did not talk much to people.
The winner of Asia’s Top Next Model will win the following prizes: 100,000 Singaporean dollars, modelling contract with Storm Model Management, three-month all-expenses paid working trip to London, opportunity to appear on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, a chance to become the new face of Cannon IXUS’ 2013 campaign, and a brand new Subaru XV.
The final episode of Asia’s Top Next Model will be aired on Ferbuary 17, Sunday, 8:55 p.m., on StarWorld. It will have a replay a week later on Studio 23 and Velvet.
