Rita Avila on adopting baby: “Ayokong planuhin kasi, I hear a lot of stories— good and bad.”

Rita Avila on how her character in TV5’s Never Say Goodbye became rich: “Nagkaasawa siya ng doctor tapos, parang namatay yung doctor, sa kanya napunta yung kayamanan.”

Nora Aunor is out? Rita Avila enters the set of Never Say Goodbye?

Sounding a bit awkward, Rita exclaimed, “Aray ko… Hindi!!! Bati kami ni Ate Guy.”

Just in case, some would not favor her entry to the soap, is she ready to deal with their criticisms?

“I think I’m the one who’s happy.”

Rita will play the role of Greta Pendelton, the nemesis of Criselda— played by Alice Dixson.

At her solo press conference yesterday, February 28, she elaborated, “Naghihiganti ako dahil noong bata ako, nakita kong pinatay ni Alice yung Tatay ko.

Gagawin kong miserable yung buhay niya.”

She laughed while describing her character.

“Excited ako kasi yung pagka-kontrabida niya, parang nakakatawa, e.

Rita cited an example:

“So, magpapatutsadahan kami tapos sasabihin nung kaibigan namin, ‘Ano ba kayo!

Tapos magshe-shake hands kami tapos after nung shake hands, kanya-kanya kaming kuhaan ng hand sanitizer. Yung mga gano’n.”

Here’s a sample of the lines she’ll deliver starting March 6:

ADOPTING A BABY? The topic turned a bit serious when the press began asking about having another baby.

She was quick to say, “Naku, matanda na ako ‘no. Matanda na ako, mahirap nang mabuntis.

“Sabi ng doctor ko, puwede pa. E, sa ka-busyhan, ay!!! Saka matanda na ako…”

It’s been six years since she lost her firstborn to a heart ailment, is she still feeling the trauma?

“Wala naman, kasi siguro dahil sa naging experience namin before, dahil we also tried very hard di ba na mabuntis ako, parang tinanggap na namin na if God can give you anytime and he can get back what he gave you anytime, di yun na lang…”

But if she will have her way, “Siyempre ako bilang babae, siyempre, gusto ko magkaanak.”

For now, she finds happiness in taking care of seven cats and seven dogs.

Rita added, “Saka I’m taking care of kids. Kunwari meron akong sinusuportahan sa ganito, sa ganyan…

“Saka may mga ala-alaga ako, may mga anak-anakan ako, yung parang gano’n.

“Not that they live in the house but you know, may mga anak-anak…”

And her dolls?

“Andun pa rin sila… Yung manika naman kasi, laruan naming mag-asawa yun, e.

“Of course, kailangang maglalaro tayo hanggang matanda na tayo. You have to keep the child part within yourself.”

Besides, she feels blessed about the string of TV projects that have been coming her way.

I’m still alive. I have to live.

“Wala na… Kung meron, meron, kung wala, wala.”

Hasn’t she and her husband FM Reyes thought of adopting a baby?

“A, ayoko siyang planuhin kasi I always believe in fate. Kaya ano, e, pag ayon sa ‘yo, ayon sa ‘yo, e.

“Kasi I hear a lot of stories— good and bad. Natatakot ako, e…

“Siyempre tao na iyan, e. Iba yung aso saka pusa… Siguro yung kaya ko lang ngayon is to help outside pero huwag muna yung ano [bata]…”

While talking about the subject, Rita got teary-eyed. It brought back some sad memories, she said.

“Pag namatayan ka pala, sometimes, you think you’re over pero may moment na bigla na lang, it will hit you.

Ano ba yun!

“And then I talked to Tita Alice Alonzo, di ba, namatay din yung anak niya, Nako, sabi niya, ‘Hindi mawawala ‘yon… You always carry kasi mother ka, e.’”

CESAR’S MARITAL WOES. Of course, since Cesar Montano is her co-star in the soap, Rita was asked about his problems with wife Sunshine Cruz.

She remarked, “Ay wala.

But is he okay?

“Based on what I saw, nung kami-kami, tawanan kami, biruan… so mukha namang masaya siya.”

Any advice she wants to tell him?

Rita butted in, “Nako, dapat alam na ni Cesar iyan…”

And since the press was not able to get any scoop from her, she said in jest, “Hayaan mo, oobserbahan ko.”
