Vin Abrenica reveals getting into petty fights with Never Say Goodbye leading lady Sophie Albert

“Ang maganda dun, pag nag-away kami, napakadali magkasundo. Parang wala lang,” says Vin Abrenica about Sophie Albert. TV5’s rising young loveteam just might be getting to know each other too well. Don’t let their romantic scenes in primetime soap Never Say Goodbye deceive you because off camera, Vin says they get into petty fights too.

Vin Abrenica is not blind. He is aware that his loveteam partner, Sophie Albert, is one beautiful girl.

In TV5’s “Go5! Live sa Araw ng Dabaw” tour in Davao City last March 16, (Philippine Entertainment Portal) had a one- on-one chat with the Never Say Goodbye lead actor.

The past episodes in TV5’s primetime soap, which also stars Superstar Nora Aunor, have put Vin and Sophie through kissing scenes and over-the-top passionate exchange of lines.

“It’s work,” tells Vin, who smiles and brushes off the comment that he could easily just develop “feelings” for his leading lady.

Of course, the 22-year-old actress’s pretty face does not help— not that Vin is resisting it.

The actor points out, “Kung may taong mahihirapan dun, ako yun. So, hirap na hirap talaga ako pero ayaw ko naman dumating yung point na—" Vin stops midway through his statement, and suddenly goes “— it’s not naman na pinipigilan ko sarili ko.

“Ayaw ko naman na may iniisip ako [kung] may masasaktan ako o may masasaktan akong iba.

“So, iniisip ko na lang, work talaga, kasi bago pa lang ako, wala pa akong napapatunayan.”

Vin does not deny that being the younger brother of GMA-7 hunk Aljur Abrenica automatically casts him in Aljur’s shadow.

“Saka na, pag meron na akong napatunayan. Dapat muna may mapatunayan ako,” says the Artista Academy male grand winner, who like his brother emerged a victor in a TV network’s star search reality show.

Vin is bent on putting in more hard work in his craft to become as established as Aljur, not that he means to compete, of course.

The siblings have vehemently dismissed such “rivalry” issues hurled at them.

KNOWING SOPHIE ALBERT. In a portion of the interview, Vin was candidly asked about how much he knows Sophie by now.

Since their pairing had proven successful in Artista Academy, the two have been inseparable on- and off-screen. Their first project, Never Say Goodbye, has bonded Vin and Sophie even more.

“Kilalang-kilala ko na! As in kilalang-kilala ko na!" the actor remarks, chuckling.

PEP dared Vin to say one thing about Sophie, something that one would be surprised to know about the actress.

Without hesitation and a grin on his face, he offered: “Don’t ever, ever…

“Automatically, if she sleeps na, kunwari, kahit ganito, normal tayo lahat,

“Kapag nakatulog ’yan, automatically pag nagising ’yan, BV [bad vibes] siya!”

Apparently, Sophie is the kind of person who wakes up in a bad mood.

“Wag na wag mo siyang kakausapin,” warns Vin.

“Yes, kahit gigisingin siya on the set, ’wag mo siya kakausapin!

"Pag nakita ko, ginising siya, tapos gumanyan na ’yan, alam ko na...

“Di ko siya kakausapin!”

The actor adds, “Nagka-clash kami. Kapag natripan ko siya, tinitingnan na niya ako, yun, mag-aaway na yun!”

So, they do get into petty fights?

The actor answers, “Yes! Nagkaka-fights kami na parang in way na di kami nag-uusap.

“Pero ang gusto ko naman sa little fights namin, kasi it’s funny, e…”

He recalled one fight wherein his co-actor told him “You’re such a brat!” to which an amused and surprised Vin replied, “What?”

The actor says about the incident, “Alam mo yung matatawa ka na ako pa yung brat talaga e, ’no? It’s funny!”

Despite their arguments, however, Vin tells that he and Sophie always find a way to make up at the end of the day, or even before it ends.

“Ang maganda dun, pag nag-away kami, napakadali magkasundo. Parang wala lang.”

Vin says that he has learned to give Sophie space in moments when she may be stressed out or in a bad mood: “Bibigyan ko siya ng time.

Her moodiness aside, Vin is always won back by one thing about Sophie.

“Sweet siya, oo sweet siya,” finally tells the young actor, smiling.
