Lea Salonga denies writing rebuttal to Tintin Bersola’s column about homosexuality

Lea Salonga comments on gay issue: “For me, the issue of homosexuality is one of humanity—it’s not an anomaly, it’s not a disease nor anything negative. It’s as much a part of God’s creation as being straight.”

NOT A REBUTTAL.

“It’s not necessarily a rebuttal because if I was gonna write a rebuttal, I will name names and I would be a little more combative. But no, no, no, it’s not,” mariing paliwanag nito.

“I read the article, it’s very difficult for me to read kasi marami akong kaibigang homosekswal, babae o lalake.

“It wasn’t necessarily a rebuttal but this is more of my personal experience, my own understanding.

"For me, the issue of homosexuality is one of humanity—it’s not an anomaly, it’s not a disease nor anything negative.

“It’s as much a part of God’s creation as being straight.

“If I had a child that’s gay, I have to recognize na siyempre you don’t want to have a gay child, the future for that child is very uncertain, but you have to embrace everything that that child is kasi biyaya pa rin siya ng Diyos sa iyo.

"That’s my belief.”

THE VOICE JUDGE/MENTOR.

Sabi niya, “I’m very excited and I’m also a little scared kasi I’ve been known for being very outspoken and very frank.

“Being encouraged by ABS-CBN na sinasabi nila sa akin na, ’You have to honest with whoever’s in front of you, you have to be honest when you are coaching, you have to be honest when you’re judging.’

“I said, ‘Okay, do you think they can handle it well?’

"If they can handle you, they can handle the industry.

"I think all of us who will be a coach or mentor need to be completely straightforward and frank with them.

“In everything we have to say, it’s not to put everybody down.

"Whatever we say sana makakabuti sa kanila.

MYX MAGNA AWARD.

Ayon sa Myx, “The Magna Award is given to an icon [who has] shaped the image and the sound of music, not only in the Philippines, but also in countries far beyond our shores. This awardee stands as concrete proof of what a Filipino musician can be."

“It’s like, ‘Totoo ba ito? Totoo ba itong nangyayari sa akin?’

“Amazing a lot of them I just met... si Juris is the only I just met before, the rest either kaibigan ko sa Twitter or sa Facebook.

“It did not feel like a bunch of strangers singing my music, it’s like these people knew me as a person.

"So iba siyempre, they were looking at me, some were winking…

"It was makuwela, it was so much fun to watch so it was just so much fun that whole thing,” masaya niyang kuwento.

“It was given to me by the local music industry, this is where I started my local career, so siyempre malaking karangalan din ito dahil ang mismong music industry ang nagbigay.

“And it came from Myx which is a well-respected channel here in the Philippines as far as helping artists promote their music.

“It’s been a really big help to so many artists to get their music out via their channel.

"For me the best part talaga is people singing my music, that was the best thing for me,” pagwawakas niyang saad.
