Patuloy na nangunguna sa unofficial and partial tally of votes ang dating Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) chairperson na si Grace Poe.
As of 6 a.m. ngayong araw, May 14 ay halos labinlimang milyon na ang kanyang nakuhang boto.
Kagabi, habang pumapasok na ang mga unofficial and partial results sa bilangan, nakausap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ang anak ng yumaong King of Philippine Movies na si Fernando Poe, Jr. (FPJ) kung saan tanging, “Thank you,” lang ang kanyang nasabi tungkol sa kanyang pag-top sa sa ongoing count for the senatorial race.
Sa panayam naman ng abs-cbnnews.com kagabi, May 13, sinabi ng Team PNoy guest candidate na, “Never ko pong inasahan maging number one. Nagulat ako. Hindi talaga naging madali ang laban na ito.”
Dagdag pa niya, kung manalo at maproklama na, ihahandog niya ang kanyang tagumpay sa amang si FPJ.
SURPRISED. Nasurpresa rin ang mga tagapagsalita ng Team PNoy at United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) na sina Miro Quimbo at Toby Tiangco, respectively, sa pangunguna ni Grace sa bilangan.
Ani Tiangco, na nanalo at naiproklama na ring representative ng Navotas, “There are surprises, like yung kay Grace na number one. I don’t think I saw any survey that predicted that. That is a surprise.
“We always thought it would be Loren who would be number one because in all the surveys, she hasn’t moved from that spot. Everyone from two below was moving up and down but Loren was very firm sa number one. So yung kay Grace, talagang surprise yun.”
Sa kabilang banda, sinabi naman ng Team PNoy na nasa ika-apat at ika-pitong ranggo lamang si Grace noon sa mga survey at may “very low voting awareness” ito bago pa man siya mag-file ng kanyang Certificate of Candidacy (COC).
Dagdag pa ni Quimbo, “The explanation with Grace that we have really been looking at is—more than anybody else, she has the least awareness. So, her awareness was really peaking and she was converting at the same time. She had ads with her mother [actress Susan Roces] in the last three weeks which really helped. The reason why we performed better is because the message was much clearer.”
FPJ MAGIC.Ayon naman sa advertising executive ng Campaigns and Grey na si Yoly Ong, hindi na raw nakakagulat ang malakas na laban ni Grace sa senatorial race dahil daw sa popularidad pa rin ng kanyang amang si FPJ.
“I knew that the father’s following would somehow rub off on her.”
Dagdag pa nito, ang political ads ni Grace na gumamit sa mga katagang “Si Grace Poe” ay nakapagbigay ng malaking tulong dito para makilala ng mga tao.
Aniya, “It was humorous for one, and I think it only ran for a short while because it’s cute. After that, it’s like telling the joke over and over. So, you can’t really, you have to change the material. I think it worked because she had really low awareness in the beginning.
“So, the petition of ‘po, po, po’ was really strategic in that sense that she wanted the name to stick. It used to be Llamanzares.”
Ayon naman sa magaling na PR man na si Reli German, “You need to create awareness first and then next comes acceptance and then comes action.
“But we don’t need that much awareness really for a lot of the people, a lot of the candidates who are running with very familiar names, and very familiar faces.”
