After two consecutive years of reigning as FHM’s Sexiest Woman, Sam Pinto is now passing the crown to Marian Rivera.
Marian was hailed this year’s Philippines’ Finest after topping the poll with 890,490 votes against Sam’s 778,681 votes.
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press had a chat with Sam yesterday, June 27, as she hosted the launch of renowned photographer Jun de Leon’s coffee table book No Body is Perfect.
Sam is also one of the subjects of the photo book, which was made into an exhibit at the Bonifacio High Street Amphitheater.
The Pinoy Big Brother alumna only had good words for the Kapuso Primetime Queen: “I think she super deserves it. She’s super beautiful and super sexy.
“And from the very beginning, I’ve said I’m happy na with the two years, masaya na ’ko.
"So whatever happens this year, masaya pa rin ako.”
Sam won the title in 2011 and 2012.
On a personal level, Sam asserts that she doesn’t harbor any ill feelings towards Marian.
If she does feel disappointment, “Actually, it’s more for the people who supported me.
“Kasi I know they really did their best to make me number one.
"But again, masaya na ’ko. Being in the Top 10 again isn’t bad.”
Wasn’t she pressured from the expectations?
“Actually, sobrang daming nag-e-expect. Well, for me, it’s super fine.
"I guess it’s really time just to pass the crown.”
Sam says she will be present for the victory party on July 10.
“Oo naman! I think they’re actually thinking of a special segment, parang ‘pass the crown’ or something.”
THAILAND TRIP. As last year’s Sexiest, Sam was the Philippines’ representative for the FHM 100 Sexiest event in Thailand held last week.
Sam relates, “Actually, the trip to Thailand, it was just… mayaman lang ang FHM Thailand.
“100 Sexiest nila yun and they invited the girls from the Philippines, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia to just ramp in their event.
"So I was the one, obviously, from the Philippines.”
Did she enjoy the trip?
“Actually masaya siya. It was my third time, like, being in Bangkok. So todo-shopping ako.”
The 23-year-old also says about FHM Thailand’s event, “You know, their 100 Sexiest is very different from us. ’Cause it’s more on the press, wala masyadong masa or mga tao.
“Like they just invited the press para alam nilang kakalat sa buong mundo… press from all-over Asia also.
“And then yung mga girls, yung mga artista nila, they’re also pretty, mukha silang mga barbies!
“Tapos hindi sila naka-bikini or two-piece, naka-gown sila rumarampa.
"Pero meron din naman mga girls na naka-bikini but not the artists.”
WORKOUT AND PREPARATIONS. On how she is preparing for the big event on July 10, Sam says, “Nagwo-workout na naman, todo ang kain ko sa Bangkok!
“Workout ko, I’m actually trying so many different things kasi hindi ko pa nahahanap yung gusto ko talaga.
“Like I tried yung mga focus athletics, yung mga crazy workouts, mga... it’s called Kangoo jumps, iba-iba.
“But wala pa yung gustung-gusto ko talaga. So, still looking for that.”
In her photo shoot for Jun de Leon’s coffee table book, which was all about health and wellness, Sam is seen holding a surfboard.
She explains, “It’s actually their idea, cause they want something na parang hindi lang ganda lang.
“At least may ginagawang something else, so mine is surfing. At least we’re doing something active.”
After trying the water sport a few years ago, Sam has developed a passion for surfing and would ride the waves in La Union when she has free time.
On becoming a subject of Jun de Leon, she says, “You know, it’s my first time to be working with him, ever, so it was an honor. Super-galing niya.”
