Anne Curtis on sister Jasmine making her own name: "I don’t think any ate would want her younger sister to be just known as ‘the sister.’"

Anne Curtis on sister Jasmine: "I’m so proud of Jasmine. For her to have gotten an award [Best Supporting Actress], that’s an amazing achievement! And from an award-giving body such as Cinemalaya, that’s legit. So I’m so proud of her that, you know, she keeps on striving to do her best."

Anne Curtis admits changing hairstyle for her role in the upcoming movie The Gifted, which she co-stars with Sam Milby and Cristine Reyes.

This is what she told (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other members of the press last Wednesday night, September 25, at Hyve, The Fort, where a teaser for her special feature on E! News Asia was previewed.

Now sporting a black hairdo, Anne said, “Kaya ako naka-bangs, for the new role. It’s a dark comedy, with Chris Martinez [as director].”

About the movie, she said, “It’s something very new. And for me, it’s a breath of fresh air. ’Cause my past two films were drama.”

Anne was referring to No Other Woman (2011) and A Secret Affair (2012).

On how she has been preparing for the film, she said, “Ayun, super basa ng script.

"Inaaral ko yung character ko since medyo... hindi lutang, pero smart na, iba, e.

“So, pinag-aaralan ko talaga. I have to do my best; especially I’m working with Chris Martinez.”

PROUD OF SISTER JASMINE. Anne’s younger sister, Jasmine Curtis Smith, has been slowly getting out of Anne’s shadow and creating a name for herself.

In fact, Jasmine bagged the Best Supporting Actress award in the Cinemalaya 2013 for the film Transit, which was also chosen as the country’s entry in the Oscar Awards Best Foreign Language Film category.

Anne said, “I’m so proud of Jasmine. For her to have gotten an award, that’s an amazing achievement!

“And from an award-giving body such as Cinemalaya, that’s legit.

"So, I’m so proud of her that, you know, she keeps on striving to do her best.

“The mere fact that [Transit’s] gonna be the Philippines’ bet for Oscar, I think that’s really major.

"So, all we have to do is pray na sana ma-nominate.”

Anne, 28, only has positive words now that her younger sister is making a name for herself.

“Dapat talaga. You know, I don’t think any ate would want her younger sister to be just known as ‘the sister.’ So, it makes me so proud.

“Kasi, especially yung ginagawa ni Jasmine, teritoryo ’yan na hindi ko pa natapakan, e—indie film, indie scene.

"Parang, na-miss out ko yung chance ko na yun.

“Pero si Jasmine, talagang she’s excelling so much in that industry. And that makes me so proud.

“She just came out with another film, Puti. So, alam mo yun, parang she deserves in her own right to make a name for herself.”

On trying out doing an indie film herself, Ane says, “I guess it’s really about the right script, di ba?

“Kung ano man yung dadating. Kung dadating, e, di sige. Kung bagay naman at kung kaya ko naman, why not?

“Pero so far, mukhang nakatali pa rin ako sa mainstream movies, e.”

Asked to react that Jasmine seems to be happy with rumored boyfriend Sam Concepcion, Anne quipped, “E, di happy na rin.”

Did Jasmine ever consult her about dating Sam?

“Well, you know, I think Jasmine’s at that point kasi na kahit mag-consult siya, she has her own mind na rin.

“So, kahit pa ate ka na gusto mong maging protective, kailangan mong medyo bumitaw ng konti.”

FIRST FILIPINO ON E! NEWS ASIA. Anne is the first ever Filipina to be featured on international entertainment news program, E! News Asia.

Kasi parang, ‘Ano kayang sinabi nitong mga to?’

“And they interviewed the key people in my life, e, na meron akong na-share. So, hindi ko alam kung anong mangyayari.

“Kaya excited rin ako. Sobra kong excited, e. Kasi, ‘Ano kaya, pa’no kaya nila nabuo yung kuwento?’”

Her 30-minute feature E! News Asia Special: Anne Curtis will air locally this Saturday, September 28, at 7:30 p.m., on SkyCable Channel 57, Cignal Channel 25, and Cablelink Channel 33.
