Bahagi ng sagot ni Ariella: “Latinas cannot even speak a sentence, right? I mean, a complete sentence... in English."
TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT.
Sagot ni Mo: “I was giving my opinion of the interview and was sharing that opinion with people who follow me on social media.
“I thought that what Ariella said in her interview might be interpreted as offensive by people of Latin descent.
“I know what she meant to say, and the spirit it was intended, but how you say it, is equally important when you represent the Philippines at this level.
“I think that is what people need to remember. Kasi ang dami nagsasabi na I took it out of context.
"I did not. I know what she was trying to say, but it doesn’t mean that it’s not offensive.
"If Ariella does not speak English well, she should also not point out, in a news interview, that a large group of people doesn’t speak it well either, and yet they prosper in the pageant. That is wrong.
“If I’m not mistaken, over one-third of the contestants at the Ms. Universe pageant are from Latin countries.
“I’m assuming quite a few of them speak English rather well and just CHOOSE to speak their native tongue for strategic reasons or for reasons such as pride, comfort, and so the population in their home country can understand their message better.
“It doesn’t mean they CANNOT complete a sentence in English.
"That is poor logic and reasoning to say [they] are not capable of doing that.
"MOST EMOTIONAL COUNTRY."
“Part of that, I believe, is what makes many us [feel] offended when a foreigner criticizes us in media, TV shows, novels, even on Facebook.
"Among the other more emotional countries (according to the poll) are El Salvador, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Chile—all Latin countries.
“My point is that if we get so easily offended, why not be more aware of also being offensive to others? Especially when REPRESENTING THE PHILIPPINES.
“I’m not saying all Latinas were offended by what she said, but there’s a chance some might be, as we would, and Ariella shouldn’t point out their ‘flaws’ in order to justify hers.
"She should remember she is running to represent beauty both from the outside and the inside."
NO INTENTION TO BASH ARIELLA.
Tugon ni Mo: “I have no intention to bash Ariella. There’s no personal gain. I wanted to share my opinion.
“I actually want Ariella to do very well.
“I have to admit that I’m not a beauty pageant enthusiast, but in any arena that would showcase the Philippines positively, I’m all for it.
"I’m rooting for Ms. Philippines, this year and every year."
Aniya, “I think Ervic was the one who said na intensyon ko ay sirain si Ariella.
“I think Ervic is an idiot, but I understand that he is trying to play action star. He’s just thinking with a different part of his body.
“If you read Ervic’s comments to me, it’s clear he suffers from poor judgment and to even call me ‘bakla,’ because he doesn’t agree with my opinion, shows his level of bigotry and stupidity, and in my opinion, he’s one less moron in government—I’m glad he lost in his bid to represent Taguig.”
MESSAGE TO BASHERS.
Saad ni Mo, “I don’t have a message to bashers, we all have our opinions.
"The one thing I read a lot though in the comments section is, ’who am I to talk about what’s offensive when I say a lot of harsh things in media too.’
“My answer is simple, I’m not formally representing the Philippines. What I say on Twitter represents only my opinion.
“If you look at the Ariella video, what does it say in [the] caption under her? It states clearly, ’Representing The Philippines.’
"And for that, you must make sure to answer with tact.
“As I’m sure that if Ervic decides again to run for public office, I doubt he will call his opponent ’bakla’ when he doesn’t agree with his/her opinion.
“But who knows? Again, he is rather dumb.”
I need to pay the rent. @djmotwister#littleladyboy”
“The last post of Ervic I saw was the screenshot of my... crying video.
“I’m not offended by that.
"He is trying to use whatever bullets he can to attack me and I understand that.
“The great irony was after that post, he tweeted that he was enroute to taping for Genesis,” na ang tinutukoy niya ay ang teleserye sa GMA Network, kung saan may partisipasyon si Ervic.
Pagpapatuloy pa ni Mo, “I kind of laughed at that, considering the cast members and what that video represents.
“Oh, well, another dumb move by Ervic, which is to be expected.”
Sabi niya, “For the record, I think Ariella should use an interpreter during the pageant.
"If anything, it would give us another large venue to showcase our language.”
