It has been a great year for Jericho Rosales.
The local and international awards and nominations he received for his 2012 indie film Alagwa has led to offers of simultaneous projects for the big screen and primetime TV.
This December, he completed acting chores in the movie Aba Nakakabasa Na Pala Ako, opposite Andi Eigenmann, under Viva Films.
An adaptation of a Bob Ong novel of the same title, the film tells the story of a teacher who can’t get over his ex-girlfriend from high school.
“We enjoyed shooting the film," Jericho told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal).
"Para kaming nagbakasyon. Habang nag-soap ako, nag-soap si Andi and Meg [Imperial].
“Pero kapag nagsyu-shooting kami, tawa kami nang tawa kasi it’s a comedy film. ’Tapos throwback pa.
"Kaya okey lang ako na abutin kami nang matagal.
“We have one more contingency. After edit, they might call us for a few more scenes.
"Baka by January na ipalabas," he explained.
NEW SOAP. While filming Aba Nakakabasa... Jericho also started taping ABS-CBN’s upcoming teleserye, The Legal Wife, which will also star Angel Locsin, Maja Salvador, and JC De Vera.
He’s not allowed to divulge details about the soap yet, so he simply described it as a family drama that focuses on marital relationships.
Asked what it is like to be working with Angel for the first time, Jericho readily complimented his co-star, especially her passion for volunteer work.
“Yung taong yun, she has an advocate heart," Jericho said.
“May pagka-gentle girl. Parang may gentleman sa loob ng babaeng yun. Ikukuha ka ng upuan.
"Kunwari nahulog mo yung ballpen mo, pupulutin niya. O kaya naman bibigyan ka ng pagkain.
“Parang babae ako kaya minsan mapapatingin na lang ako. Grabeng polite niya.”
The 34-year-old actor was also all praises for Maja.
“I’m very excited to work with Maja also. Technically, second time na naming magkatrabaho.
“Nung first time wala kaming masyadong eksena. Now na magkatrabaho kami, sumasabog kami sa taping!
"Enjoy, ibang klase! She’s a good actress,” he remarked.
HAPPY LOVELIFE. Talking about his fiancée Kim Jones, Jericho said she has has been very supportive of his endeavors.
When he’s under stress at work, Kim takes good care of him.
Kim, who was beside him during the interview, cheerfully interjected, “Sobrang sweet ako! Sobrang malambing!”
Jericho agreed wholeheartedly.
“When I was so busy, ginawan niya ako ng tea, ng sandwich, ’tapos nakalagay yung script ko sa gilid.
"While reading my script, she made me a meal because I needed to concentrate.”
For his part, he loves taking photos of Kim, who’s maintaining a blog.
Jericho said, “Yeah, kasi it’s good for me also. Napa-practice yung eye ko for photography.
"She trusts me a lot. Masaya kaming dalawa na nagwo-work kami together. For us, it’s not work."
PEP saw his shots, and they were good.
Smiling, he said it pays to be in love with his subject.
"When I look at her, I know that I’m the only person that looks at her the way I do."
