Joyce Ching hesitant about reconciling with Kristoffer Martin: “Hindi ko pa rin alam kung ano ba talaga ang gusto ko.”

Joyce Ching, GMA-7’s bida-kontrabida young actress, wished for three things on her birthday. One, that she be blessed with more projects. Second, that she would be even more motivated to keep her newfound healthy lifestyle. Third, regarding love, that she always be happy. The chinky-eyed beauty, four months since her breakup with teen actor Kristoffer Martin, appears to be happy, more so that she soon stars in the upcoming soap, Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw

Four months after breaking up with Kristoffer Martin, her boyfriend of three years, Joyce Ching seems to be doing fine.

The young Kapuso talent, who turned 19 years old last January 5, has considerably lost weight and looks her best with a thinner waist and a hale smile.

The Zumba workouts have paid off, said Joyce, not to mention the “frequent but small meals” that she takes have tremendously helped in shedding her baby fat.

At the surprise birthday lunch that the Kapuso network threw for her last Tuesday, January 21, at the City Best Seafood restaurant in Quezon City, the chinky-eyed beauty donned a blue dress with a cut by the waist, revealing her slender figure.

In an exclusive chat with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Joyce told that turning 19 entails a challenge to level up in her career, specifically shifting from her “tween” roles to more mature ones.

Granted the right projects and perhaps a change of wardrobe, Joyce knows that it is attainable.

KRISTOFFER MARTIN. The conversation did not stray further.

In a January 15 interview with PEP, Kristoffer admitted wanting to get back together with Joyce.

The teen actor said, “Ayoko na ngang magsalita nang patapos. Aaminin ko, gusto ko pa, e.”

On the one hand, Kristoffer also said that while he wants to reconcile with Joyce, it would be better that he “find himself” first.

He explained, “Kasi for almost three years, kami lang.

“So siguro, gusto muna naming mag-explore. Kung saan kami dalhin nitong pag-e-explore namin, at no regrets naman, at kung kami, e, di good.”

“Finding himself” was the same sentiment that the young actor shared to PEP. late last year during his birthday charity.

Kristoffer admitted to going through a phase after his breakup with Joyce.

He said on November 20, 2013: “Siguro kasi, ano, masyado kong sineryoso ang lahat-lahat.

“Siguro, nawalan ako ng oras para sa sarili ko. Pero I have no regrets.

“Siguro, iyon lang iyong na-realize ko na after what happened to us, parang nahirapan akong umangat, nahirapan ako...”

HESITANT JOYCE. When asked to comment on her ex-boyfriend’s longing to reconcile with her, a reluctant Joyce replied, “Ayaw ko po kasing magsalita nang tapos. Ayaw ko mag-comment.

“Hindi ko pa rin kasi alam sa sarili ko kung ano ba, kung ano bang gusto ko talaga.”

She said that she and Kristoffer, however, have maintained their friendship albeit the distance that has grown between them.

While the two continue to keep in touch, their everyday phone calls have diminished to once-a-week chats.

Joyce also recalls the awkwardness that they felt around each other during their rehearsal for Sunday All Stars last January 4.

The dance number was to promote the upcoming soap Paraiso Ko’y Ikaw, which stars Kristoffer and Joyce with Kim Rodriquez.

“Sobrang ilang na ilang” was how Joyce put it.

The next day, however, the young actress said that she and Kristoffer went back to being chatty.

It was the actual day of their dance number for the Sunday musical-variety show.

She still misses Kristoffer from time to time.

Joyce said, “Nung una siguro talaga, nung kaka-break pa lang, dun ko parang sobrang nami-miss, kasi nasanay ako na lagi siyang nandiyan.

“Nami-miss ko na lagi kaming magkausap. Lagi kami magkausap talaga dati.

“As in every day… paggising, buong araw talaga, whole day.

"Tapos biglang… hindi na."

DISCOURAGED BY FAMILY AND FRIENDS. In his interviews, Kristoffer would always appear emotional whenever inquired about the breakup.

Joyce, on the other hand, appears to be more composed.

How was she able to cope?

The young actress replied, “Siguro kasi marami naman [akong] friends din.

“At saka yung family ko, talagang tinulungan nila ako.”

Joyce began to tear up. Her voice, however, did not grow frail.

She said that most advised her not to get back together.

Pressed as to why they discouraged her, Joyce only quipped, “No comment po.”

The root of their breakup, despite the many times Joyce and Kristoffer were interviewed, was never really said.

The rumor that Kristoffer developed feelings for his former Kahit Nasaan Ka Man co-star Julie Anne San Jose has not been confirmed by the young actor or by Joyce.
