Nominado rin sina Robin Padilla (10,000 Hours), Piolo Pascual (On The Job), Dingdong Dantes (Dance Of The Steel Bars), at Jake Macapagal (Metro Manila).
Aniya, “I read the official statement of PMPC.
For sure, kahit sila mismo ay tumatayo ang mga balahibo pati sa kanilang kili-kili dahil they are composing a LIE.
“I am challenging you—count the votes in public.
"Yung walang bura, ha. Kapag may bura, dapat may initials ng bumoto.
“Palusot nila, may legal process daw sa ganoon, kailangan daw ng court order pa. Hasus!
Saad niya, “HINDI NAMAN YUNG PAGIGING FIRM NG DECISION ANG KINUKUWESTIYON NI Sucaldito Jobert, AT NG MGA NAKAKAUNWA SA INYONG KABABUYAN.
“KUNDI YUNG MGA PERANG TINANGGAP NG BAWAT VOTING MEMBERS PARA IPANALO ANG KUNG SINUMANG HIGHEST BIDDER AT YUN ANG IPINAPANALO NINYO.
“REGARDLESS DIN KUNG SINO YUNG ARTISTA. KASE NGAYON, KAHIT DESERVING PA YUNG WINNER, SINO PANG MANINIWALA? EH, INILALAKO, IBINIBENTA AT NABIBILI NAMAN TALAGA ANG MGA BOTO NINYO. WAG NA KAYONG MAGMALINIS!
“DISAPPOINTING AT KADIRI TALAGA KASE 30 YEARS AGO, ISA KAMI SA NAGTATAG NG PMPC STAR AWARDS FOR MOVIES AND TV.
Ano ba yan. noon pa ang bilihan ng awards no? well, nothing like sa pamumuno ni Manay Etel Ramos and the few succeeding Presidents.”
“We have been asked by people what we can say about the latest PMPC Star Awards boo-boo.
"Our colleague Jobert Sucaldito has posted in his social networking account, and has written in his newspaper column about how disgusted he was after he was victimized by ’dagdag-bawas’ that he suspected happened because according to him he lobbied for ER Ejercito, ’contacted’ 22 voting members out of the 38 and lost.
“Or it could be the case of a ’double cross’ because some of the members he ’lobbied’ did not actually vote for ER Ejercito as best actor.
"We should also consider that no other award in the 30th PMPC Star Awards is being questioned other than the ’best actor’ category.
"’Lobbying’ or ’bribery’ was never an issue in the other categories except on the best actor.
“Jobert has admitted ’bribery’ when he said ’walang alam si ER dito, nangutang ako sa mga kaibigan ko para makalaban.’
"So he said that the ’lobby’ meant monetary considerations.
"There is another question about a member in good standing of the PMPC, and therefore a voting member, identified as Francis Simeon, who was said to have ’lobbied’ and therefore has also ’bribed’ other members to vote for the eventual winner Vice Ganda.
"The other issue was, the winner was supposed to be Joel Torre, but ’he will not buy votes.’
"These are the given facts in the case, in which we wanted to keep quiet until we read this morning the column of our friend Alfie Lorenzo at Abante Tonite saying, ’Hindi ba sinasabi ni ER na iyang PMPC ang pinaka-credible na award giving body para sa kanya? Ano ang masasabi mo Ed de Leon?’
"Now this we have to say. There are two questions with what happened here. First, is it legal? Second, is it moral?
"The PMPC refused to answer any accusation pending a meeting of the general membership.
"It is stupid to question the decision of the PMPC legally. First, they are the legal owners of Star Awards. As legal owner they can do whatever they want to do with it. Their decision is up to them. Whoever they say are winners cannot be questioned legally. It is now up to the public to accept it or not.
"If the PMPC tolerates ’vote buying’ and ’bribery’ masked as a ’legal lobby,’ it is up them.
“Legally they can sell their awards. They can even auction their awards to the highest bidder, and there can be no legal question because they own the awards.
“We should take note, that it is not only the PMPC that has been questioned on bribery, almost all have been in the same trouble, except the Manunuri who they never accused of bribery but the practice of ’sila-sila, tayo-tayo,’ and the Catholic Mass Media Awards which has no other interest but guide the faithful in what they think is best to see.
"So the next question is moral. Is it moral to be ’selling votes’ for an awards supposed to be given for excellence?
"But then, is it also moral for someone to ’buy’ awards supposed to be given for excellence?
"If you ask us, there is a moral question to those who ’sell’ as well as to those who ’buy.’
"Morality is relative. What may be immoral for some is acceptable to the other.
"Let us say the given example that an outsider can bribe, but a member must not bribe.
“What is the difference between bribery from an outsider and a qualified member. It remains to be the same ’bribe’ and therefore immoral.
"We cannot dictate on what the PMPC should do within their ranks. The general membership may decide to open to the public their ballot box to prove if there was indeed ’dagdag-bawas’ or not.
“The PMPC may choose to do some action or just sit down on the complaint against them.
"As we’ve said, they are a private entity, and the Star Awards is solely their domain. They may however lose their credibility.
“They may conduct their own investigation, or better still appoint people who will conduct an independent and unbiased investigation, and declare to the public what happened.
"If there are erring members, they should be purged.
"But as we said it will depend on the PMPC to do everything. They can also choose to be like ’Humpty Dumpty’ just sitting down on the wall and just be careful not to have ’a great fall.’
"But one thing is sure, even if there is a rumour of an anomaly, about this time again next year, there will be a 31st Star Awards for Movies, and the attention hungry will vie or die to have it, even if they have to “lobby” or not.
“After all that’s showbusiness. They are all dying for awards, and sometimes even create awards and titles just to please themselves and boost their ego.”
P15,000 daw per PMPC member ang nangyaring bayaran. e 22 yung binigyan. kuwentahin how much money is all that. for a questionable award? lugi nga naman silang nagbayad! kakahiya!”
Tugon ni Dindo, “Elders like you, Tito Mario at siguro the past presidents ng PMPC at iba pang cooler heads should come forward.
