Ayon kay Bamboo, “Uhm, I don’t think it’s gonna happen. I mean in the sense na there’s still Rivermaya.
“They still have an album, they’re still touring, still doing their thing, ‘di ba? So, it’s just weird to say a reunion na buo pa sila, right?
"Ako, I said, it doesn’t excite me in that sense to do a reunion show."
Pero okay sa kanya ang isang ideya: "How about a reunion album?"
“Now we do something different na gumawa kayo ng new material ’tapos gawin yung concert, because we all have evolved, we have changed in time, you know what I mean?
“It doesn’t excite me na we’re gonna sing ’Ulan’ again na kami lang, you know what I mean?
“Because I’ve been singing that for the past how many years? We have evolved and changed. So, sa akin, get us in the studio, that’s gonna excite me more. Pushing forward!”
“No, I mean, that would be my idea, that would be exciting. But just to do a reunion show, for me, it’s just making a buck and it doesn’t motivate me,” dagdag pa niya.
“No, there’s no discussion. This is just something I tell to you guys as I speak to you,” sabi niya.
Kuwento niya, “I was a film major. I took a lot of writing and Philosophy in the U.S. I was out of Rivermaya, I left. I just needed to get out and live, right?
“Pero uhm, sometimes, I think music choose me that time, you know what I mean?
“Ako, I was at the crossroad of my life and my career, kung anong gusto kong gawin noon. ‘Oh, I want to do this. I want to do that.’
“Pero a lot of people—my friends and family—would tell me, ’You have a gift, to do this, to sing, and to write, and to be a part of that, so why don’t you give it a shot and try again, and do it your way?’
“So, I’d like to think that I came back on my own terms and ah, it’s taken me to this road and I’m happier for it, ’di ba?”
THE REAL BAMBOO. Sino naman si Bamboo behind the camera and the rock-star image?
“I don’t know. I’m just a guy. I’m just me. I mean, whatever you want me off-cam, I become myself, nothing changes,” saad niya.
Approachable ba siya?
“Ah, I think so. I mean, I guess you can ask the everyday person there. I go out to streets and walk around and try not to live like a bobo and still push myself to go up,” pahayag pa niya.
I’m a very patient... I’m a patient person. I don’t get pikon. I get pikon if you’re rude just like anyone else. I mean, well, yeah.”
WON’T PRESSURE KIDS. May anak na ba siya? If ever, papayag ba siya na sumali sa isang talent show gaya ng The Voice Kids ang anak niya?
Sabi niya, “Yes, boy and girl, and no to letting them join talent shows. It’s just me as a parent. I don’t think I could handle that.”
Hindi niya maha-handle ang pagkatalo, kung sakali?
“No, it’s not the defeat. I just can’t handle everything.
“I don’t know. I could not. I know myself. I don’t want to put pressure on them. It takes something else.
“I know my capabilities and I know who I am. So, I know definitely na hindi ko kaya yun. I could not do that,” paliwanag pa niya.
FOLLOWING IN HIS FOOTSTEPS?
Mabilis niyang sagot, “Ah, I hope not. Haha!”
At bakit naman hindi?
“Ah, anything…. he can be anything he wants.
“Inuuna ko lang, hindi ako yung tipo ng parent na gusto ko maging ganito ka or whatever, hindi ako ganoon.
“Basta whatever your heart’s desire, whatever you want to be, just be there and just try to be the best. Strive your very best always, that’s it.
“Alam ko kasi it’s such a hard road, you know what I mean?
“Ah, this business is not easy as they say especially when you are a recording artist and singing.
“It takes perseverance. It takes something special. That’s something I don’t want, you know, plan on myself alone. If they decide to do that, let it be. It will just happen lang,” lahad niya.
“Well, then, go for it. All you have to do is to support them."
ON LEA SALONGA. Anong reaksyon niya sa mga nagsasabing medyo mayabang ang dating ni Lea Salonga as a coach sa The Voice Kids?
“Well, okay. I think that’s part of the show, you know what I mean?
“And, Lea and I were just, we don’t even... when we talk, we talk about other things. We talk about life, so that’s not something I see. I just see Lea, you know what I mean?
“That’s how she is. Same as, I think, the same could have been said of me ever since I’m in showbiz, or even Sarah [Geronimo]. So, it all depends, you know what I mean?
“It’s about perspective wherever they’re seeing it, whatever they tweet about it. But she has been great and I’m just so happy that I’ve been part of the show,” pagpapasalamat niya.
“No, not at all. Not at all, yeah. It’s fun. I don’t even see that. Music is music, you know.
“I’m a guy who just moves forward and pushes forward. So, I’m not someone who looks at your past work or whatever or will put a pat on your back. I’m always very present. That’s something, ah, my personality.
“So, ako, it’s what you’re doing today, about who you are supposed to be today that defines you.
“Sa akin mas importante who the person I’m sitting with or what kind of person you want to be with which is apparently you are. That’s my measure of a person,” banggit niya.
ON APL DE AP.
Ani Bamboo, “Ah, not at all. I just think we’re in different worlds, different genres.
“I just see music as one world, one thing, right? That’s the kind of personality I am, I guess. That’s the way I think medyo deep in that sense now.”
Naging close ba sila ni Apl sa The Voice noon?
“I mean, as close as a coach can go, yeah. We made the effort to spend time and then do, ah, out of work was ah, I think during his despedida, I was there before he left for the U.S., end of the season.
“So, we did that. I’m someone who never leaves the house.”
HOMEBODY. Homebody si Bamboo?
Pagsang-ayon niya, “I’m very much a homebody. I’m a homebody and I just love being at home. That’s where I’m created. That’s where I’m happy and so, yeah.”
“Of course when you’re younger, you go out with your friends”
“Oh, haha! I don’t want to comment on any of that. Hahaha!” bulalas niya.
“I’d like to think I work the hardest,” giit niya.
Sagot niya, “Again, it takes us something special, right? So, ayun.”
