Slater Young nixes intimate bed scenes: "Hindi ko pa kaya."

After doing movie bit roles, Slater Young gets his biggest break yet in the indie film #Y, where he plays a character quite known to him, "A, feeling ko, may pagkayabang din talaga ako."

TV host and actor Slater Young admitted he finds movie acting "kinda tougher" than hosting a show on television.

"I had to work on it din for a character," said Slater when interviewed by (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at the grand presscon of Cinemalaya X at the CCP Main Theater lobby.

Slater was joined by Elmo Magalona, Sophie Albert, Coleen Garcia, and Kit Thompson, his co-actors in the Cinemalaya New Breed entry #Y [Hash-tag Y].

The film’s director Gino Santos also joined his cast at the presscon.

Slater told PEP that as a movie actor, he’s done bit and cameo parts in The Reunion and Kimmy Dora, among others.

"Puro cameo lang ako noon," said the Big Winner of Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited in 2012.

The movie #Y is Slater’s first major break.

"Support ako dito. I play Mark, the brother of Mile, si Elmo Magalona.

"Sa lahat ng nagawa ko, ito ang pinakaibang-iba.

"Kasi I’m used to playing the good guy, the very nice guy.

"Ito, mas edgy, mas raw... parang mas mayabang yung character ko.

"Sabihin na lang nating… mas offbeat siya kasi hindi ko siya nakasanayan."

Was it difficult playing such a character?

"A, hindi naman ganun [ka-difficult], pero it was challenging."

How different is his role from his real character?

Slater smiled, "A, feeling ko, may pagkayabang din talaga ako."

HOSTING PBB. "I’m doing PBB [Pinoy Big Brother] now," Slater further related.

"Naghu-host ako ngayon, nasa labas na. Dati, sa loob ako [Bahay Ni Kuya].

"It was very difficult then, more on the length of time na nandoon kami."

How has it been two years after winning the PBB grand prize?

"Okay naman, so far so good," he said.

What did he do with his prize money?

"Yung prize ko... some I used to... may pinaaral kami," he revealed.

"Yung iba, nasa bank lang, I’m planning to invest soon."

ELIGIBLE BACHELOR. Slater Young is 26, single, and has no plans of settling down anytime soon.

"Matagal pa, hanap muna ako ng girlfriend," he declared despite being surrounded by pretty girls.

"Wala lang, I just haven’t found the right person."

No romantic linking at all?

"Wala pa ngayon, wala," the young eligible bachelor further attested.

There was a time when Slater was linked romantically to singer-actress Rachelle Ann Go.

What is his message now to Rachelle Ann?

"Well, I’m happy for her, heard that she’s doing really well," Slater said.

Rachelle mlanded a plum role in the West End musical Miss Saigon.

Will Slater be flying to London to watch Miss Saigon?

"No plans, busy kasi, e," he said.

NO INTIMATE SCENES. In #Y, Slater related he interacts mostly with the Elmo Magalona character "’cause I’m his brother [in the story]."

One cast member informed the press that the female roles are more daring in intimate bedroom scenes.

Is Slater in those scenes?

"Wala, sila lang, hindi ko pa kaya.

"Maybe in the future, tingnan natin," Slater answered, smiling.

On the other hand, the indie newbie has good words about their young director.

Slater said, "He’s very, very good!

"Kasi si Direk Gino, feeling ko, he’ll let you do whatever you want to do.

"Parang interpretation mo, ’tapos idinidirek ka lang niya nang konti-konti.

"It feels organic. It feels like ikaw pa rin ang gumawa [ng eksena].

"Ganun siya magdirek."
