Andre Paras "very proud" of brother Kobe’s basketball career in US

Andre Paras on younger brother Kobe: “Parang sabi nga nila, it’s true enough na naghati kami ni Kobe sa talents ni Dad [Benjie Paras]—basketball and acting. Si Kobe, what he’s doing now of course is also… concentrating on his studies aside from basketball, which is really important. ’Tapos focused din siya sa pagwu-workout at pag-i-improve as a basketball player.”

Labis ang kasiyahang nararamdaman ni Andre Paras dahil sa napipintong pagpasok ng kapatid niyang si Kobe Paras sa University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) para maglaro sa US NCAA Division I, pagkatapos maka-graduate nito sa high school sa 2016.

Nang makausap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Andre sa Sunday All Stars noong Linggo, October 19, “He [Kobe] personally called us.

“Nung tumawag siya sa amin, I think hapon dun [sa US], ‘tapos umaga dito sa Pilipinas. Nagising kaming lahat sa bahay.

“Ibinalita niya sa amin yung tungkol sa UCLA.

“So, we were so happy nung tumawag siya and, after that, we did a video chat.”

Nakakatuwa na kung siya ay gumagawa ng pangalan sa Pilipinas bilang aktor at TV host, si Kobe naman ay sa larangan ng basketball doon sa Amerika.

Sabi naman ni Andre, “I’m very proud of him nga.

“Parang sabi nga nila, it’s true enough na naghati kami ni Kobe sa talents ni Dad [Benjie Paras]—basketball and acting.

“Si Kobe, what he’s doing now of course is also… concentrating on his studies aside from basketball, which is really important.

“’Tapos focused din siya sa pagwu-workout at pag-i-improve as a basketball player.”

Hindi na talaga paaawat si Kobe sa target niyang basketball career sa US at makapasok din sa NBA.

Ayon kay Andre, “Everytime na nagkakausap kami, he’s telling us na… he’s doing good in basketball, na he learned something new.

“Actually he is telling me about school din talaga.

“And what he is doing now, since he’s third year high school pa lang, he is focusing in school and graduating first.”

Is he not planning to go to the States and visit Kobe?

“Actually, I’m thinking about that, when I have the time po.

“Kasi right now, I’m busy also with schedule sa school.

“’Tapos I’m doing MTV, ‘tapos Sunday All Stars, at saka sa taping ng The Half Sisters.”

“I’m also surprised din na extended. We were all happy actually.

“Kasi ini-expect namin na there’s a certain time na mag-i-end na siya. ‘Tapos biglang we were told about it na mai-extend pala.

“We were all surprised and happy.

“And it’s really nice because it’s a star-studded cast na sobrang gagaling nung mga kasama kong artista.

“Kaya for me, I’m really happy to be a part of it also.

“I’m thankful that with this soap, I was able to work with veteran stars din.

“And made new friends also, at saka learn a lot of things.

“Hopefully po, this is just the beginning na I can improve and do good in acting po.

“Yung character ko sa soap will gonna be stronger na… na hindi niya pababayaan si Diana,” pagtukoy niya sa character ni Barbie na pareho nilang gusto ni Derrick.
