Binibini No. 10 Pia Wurtzbach is the new Miss Universe-Philippines titleholder.
Hailing from Cagayan de Oro City, 25-year-old Pia was crowned as Miss Universe-Philippines at the Binibining Pilipinas 2015 coronation night held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, Sunday night, March 15.
Besting 33 other contestants, Pia will compete at the 64th Miss Universe pageant following Miss Universe-Philippines MJ Lastimosa’s controversial stint early this year.
Pia, a former talent of Star Magic, was also awarded as Binibining Pilipinas 2015's Miss Creamsilk.
Following MJ's footsteps, this is Pia's third try in the pageant.
She first joined in 2013 where she became 1st runner-up and she competed again in 2014 but failed to make it to Top 5.
Meanwhile, the Bb. Pilipinas-International crown was awarded to Binibini No. 11 Janicel Lubina who’s a Palawan native.
Bagging the Bb. Pilipinas-Supranational crown was Binibini No. 25 Rogeline Catacutan from Cebu City.
Declared Bb. Pilipinas-Intercontinental was Binibini No. 19 Christi Lynn McGarry who is from the province of Camarines Sur.
Binibini No. 24 Ann Lorraine Colis, who's from Pampanga, was crowned Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism.
Binibini No. 28 Hannah Ruth Sison was the first runner up, while Binibini No. 8 Kimverlyn Suiza placed second runner up in the pageant.
Binibini No. 34 Teresita Ssen Marquez, or more popularly known as Winwyn Marquez, was among the Top 15 but failed to win a crown.
Winwyn was one of the crowd and pre-pageant favorites, and many predicted her to win one of the major titles. But she went home almost empty-handed.
She won three special awards though: Best in National Costume, Miss Talent, and She’s So Jag.
Winwyn is the daughter of Alma Moreno and Joey Marquez and the niece of former Miss International Melanie Marquez, who were all present at the pageant last night.
The other semifinalists are Princess Joy Camu (Binibini No. 14), Brenna Gamboa (Binibini No. 17), Maolin Yalung (Binibini No. 9), Alaiza Malinao (Binibini No. 21), Justine Felizarte (Binibini No. 23), Anja Vanessa Peter (Binibini No. 22), and Kylie Verzosa (Binibini No. 12).
