Vhong Navarro camp dismayed by Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo’s freedom amid serious illegal detention case

Vhong Navarro’s legal counsel Atty. Alma Mallonga on court’s confirmation of Cedric Lee, Deniece Cornejo, and Zimmer Raz’s bail petition: “We know what the evidence is. A crime has been committed here. Vhong believes very strongly that a wrong has been committed. How can they [Cedric’s group] leave the trial for committing that wrong?"

Mallonga sa mensaheng ipinadala nito sa PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ngayong Miyerkules, July 1: “Judge Mariam Bien, while confirming the grant of bail to Cedric Lee, Deniece, & Zimmer, goes on to say that the ‘prosecution is not being left with an empty bag’ and that ‘it has not yet gone to the heart of the case.’

“What that means, even as the prosecution tries to assess its remedies from the 2.5 page order, is that Vhong's quest for justice continues.

“The evidence is clear and undisputed.

“We will fight to the very end. Tuloy ang laban.”

TRYING TO UNDERSTAND.

“Frankly, for the record, we do not understand, we are still trying to understand what the order of the judge means because it is so short.

“The findings have been embodied in just two paragraphs in a two-and-a-half page order.

“So, definitely, we will study what our options are, and we will avail all of the remedies available under the law.

“In the meantime, we will continue to follow the law. We will continue to abide by the process.”

Mallonga, “Unfortunately, the former judge Esperanza Paz Cortez—and that is why we filed for a motion for reconsideration—did not even deem to give any importance to the CCTV, except to say that it shows Vhong was detained only for 30 minutes.

“If you are deprived of your liberty for any length of time, that is detention.

“And when there is no reason for you to be detained, as in this case, and as we have seen, there was no [reason] at all to justify detention. That is illegal.

“And when it is accompanied, as in this case, with threats to kill [that is serious illegal detention].”

THE FIGHT CONTINUES.

He is determined to fight to the very end.

“We know what the evidence is. We have seen it with our very own eyes.

"A crime has been committed here. And that's why Vhong is pursuing this case.

“He believes very strongly that a wrong has been committed.

"How can they [Cedric's group] be relieved of criminal liability for committing a wrong?

“As far as the prosecution is concerned, the fight continues.”
