Benjamin Alves admits he’s dating; not in a rush to be in a relationship

Benjamin Alves on his dating style: "I don’t take anything away from the girl. I keep it honorable. You know what I mean? I don’t sleep around or anything like that. I’m just saying, like if it doesn’t work out, I always want it to work out, but if it doesn’t work out, at least we’ll always be friends."

Although Benjamin Alves has been writing a lot of love poems lately, he maintained that it doesn’t necessarily reflect his current relationship status.

“No one in particular. No one in the present.

“For me, ha, para lang siyang acting.

“Kasi with me, when we're acting, we can go back to an emotion and then act, right?

“Ganun din ginagawa ko. I go back to an emotion or an event and then I write about it,” Ben stated when asked about his source of inspiration.

In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at GMA Studio 7 last June 27, the 26-year-old Kapuso actor further explained that writing a poem about a potential girlfriend is not his courtship style.

“If I’m dating somebody, I’ll not have a poem about them. Parang mawawalan ako ng chance kasi…

“Tsaka masyado naman intense yun, parang ‘Wow! You wrote a poem about me. We’re just dating for a month.’

“Whoever I’m writing about is not someone I’m dating now.

“So, I’m dating, I’m not hiding it,” he stated.

While he’s admittedly dating at the moment, Benjamin refused to reveal the girl’s identity since they’ve just started getting to know each other.

He reasoned, “Ayokong pangunahan. If we're together, then you’ll know. I wouldn’t hide it.”

Benjamin also mused that he’s not in a rush to be in a relationship because of his workload these days.

Aside from taping GMA’s upcoming teleserye Beautiful Strangers, he’s also slated to start shooting for two indie films—Gayuma and Echorsis.

“Dating is not my priority. It’s the work.

“And it has to be understood by the person.

“If you have your own passion, and then it doesn’t matter [if I am busy with work].

“‘Cause if the person I’m dating has their own passion, you won’t be bothered if you have more time for her.

"It’s the reality of everything.

“The moment that you [start thinking] like, ‘Ay, ayokong pumunta sa trabaho’ or ‘huwag na nating gawin yung guesting na ‘yan,’ because you wanna hangout with somebody, that’s the end of it for me, kasi parang kailangan talaga trabaho, e.”

Interestingly, Benjamin disclosed that he’s the kind of guy who doesn’t take advantage of a girl during dating stage.

“I don’t take anything away from the girl. I keep it honorable.

"You know what I mean? I don’t sleep around or anything like that.

“I’m just saying, like if it doesn’t work out, I always want it to work out, but if it doesn’t work out, at least we’ll always be friends.”

At the same time, Ben claimed that he always makes his intentions clear to a girl that he’s romantically interested in.

“I’m always at the platform where let’s be friends but let’s have that intention that we’re getting to know each other.

“I don’t hide it to the person that I’m dating.

“Hindi ako ganung lalaki na parang, all of a sudden, gusto mo na siya.

“Or all of a sudden nabibigla sila kasi ‘di mo sinabing gusto mo sila.

“So, from the get go [it should be clear that] there’s an attraction and then that’s mutual naman.”
