Why Winwyn Marquez can’t fall for Mark Herras

Winwyn Marquez is a low-maintenance girl: "Hindi kasi ako maarte. I just learned how to put make-up, moisturize when I joined Binibining Pilipinas. Doon lang ako natuto lahat."

“Hindi talaga puwede,” said Winwyn Marquez when PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) asked why falling for Mark Herras is the farthest thing from her mind.

The morena beauty actually looked amused when this exclusive interview took place at The Palace Pool Club, Uptown Bonifacio, Taguig, where Berocca launched its three new flavors.

Smiling, she continued, “Mark Herras talaga!

“No we’re friends, we’re okay. We go out as group.

"Kasi magkabarkada kami e, yung ‘Sayaw Pilipinas' group before,” she said referring to a segment in the defunct Party Pilipinas.

Its members also include Yassi Pressman, Sef Cadayona, Steven Silva, Diva Montelaba, Enzo Pineda, Julian Trono, Mayton Eugenio, and Rocco Nacino.

The Kapuso star stressed, “And we’re not together, but we go out.”

What did Mark say about her interview where she said "basted siya"?

Winwyn related, “Sabi niya, ‘Grabe ka naman!!!’

“Kasi magkaibigan kami. He understands na ayoko muna, ayoko ng commitment…”

Why not?

A brief pause before replying, “Seven years akong may boyfriend na non-showbiz, so wala…”

The breakup, according to her, took place even before she joined the Binibining Pilipinas beauty pageant last March.

“Matagal na, before pa nun. Wala, we’re okay, we’re friends. We talk, we text. Nothing significant.”

POLITICS. The topic shifted to her mom Alma Moreno, who will run for senator come the May 2016 elections.

If she will really have her way, “Ayoko talaga…

“But whatever she wants, if she wants to run, I will support her,” on one condition.

Winwyn underlined, “Sana magpa-check up siya, payagan muna siya ng doctor niya.

“Kasi number one, health yung problema, e.”

It can be recalled that Alma was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2001.

How about her, does she see herself entering politics in the future?

“No you can never say never.”

The daughter of Joey Marquez served as Sangguniang Kabataan chairman for four years in Parañaque, where she also became “the vice president of mga kabataan.”

But for now, “Ayoko muna, maybe in the future, who knows ‘di ba.

“Showbiz muna ako, business muna ako, sila muna, mga kapatid ko muna.”

Her half-brothers Jeremy and Vandolph will both vie for the positions vice mayor and councilor, respectively, in Parañaque.

MORENA. Next, a beauty-related concern—the fact that Pinoys seem to favor whiter skin—was brought up.

Winwyn admitted, “You know, honestly before, I was so insecure kasi ang daming nagsasabi na mas maganda pag maputi, mestiza, ganyan.

“I have nothing against yung mga fair, yung light-skinned, ha, pero pro-white ang standard ng beauty dito.”

But Winwyn is now very happy with her skin color.

“Just love who you are, that’s it, e.

“Kung ano yung binigay sa ‘yo, you just have to accept it and realize na if ma-i-insecure ka lang sa sarili, wala, mas lalo kang papangit, ‘di ba.

“So if you wanna be lighter, yun talaga ang gusto mo, it’s okay. You can anything you want, magpaputi ka, magpa-mestiza ka, whatever, if that’s gonna make you confident, just do it.

“But as much as possible, just love your own skin, ‘di ba. Accept what God has given you.

“Eventually, you will feel beautiful pag you accept yourself,” said the aspiring beauty queen.
