Lea Salonga reacts to ‘Patola Queen’ tag: "Sometimes you have to stand up if somebody says something that’s obviously wrong."

Lea Salonga on fighting for the young singers in The Voice Kids: "It’s really not for our benefit, e. It’s for the benefit of the child watching us fight.

Pahayag ng dating Miss Saigon star tungkol dito, “Well, sometimes you have to stand up kasi if somebody says something that’s obviously wrong, or you have to stand up for yourself also.

“There are things na hindi ko na papatulan kasi it’s a waste of time.

"But if there’s something I feel na you’re attacking something that I feel very strongly about, then, oo, papatulan talaga kita.

“But I have to be very discerning as to who to answer, as well as who to ignore.

“And usually, it’s like… I have to just figure it out and give it some thought.

"When it gets super-super bastos, they don’t even get an answer. They just get blocked."

THE VOICE KIDS.

Aniya, “The only thing I can ask them to do because they’re so young is just learn your song well.

Kasi, going in, we have someone who briefs us before every blind audition.

“And he encourages us to really banter with each other. Kailangan we have to fight, we have to fight for the kids.

“It’s really not for our benefit, e. It’s for the benefit of the child watching us fight.

“If I see two people I am a fan of fighting for me to join their team, malamang ang mangyayari, e, the one who fought harder is the one I’ll go with.

“So, it doesn’t just make for good TV. It’s also good for the person standing there in front of us picking a team.

“And it’s fun!”

May mga pagkakataong may naipapahayag din si Lea sa social media tungkol sa mga batang kinu-coach niya for The Voice Kids.

Paliwanag niya, “I’m very vocal on certain issues. And I tend to be very complimentary with the kids.

“In whatever I say naman, I have to always make a stand.

“I look at how many Twitter followers I have and, I figured, even a small percentage of this gets to vote and watches the show and supports these kids.”

ON DAUGHTER NICHOLE.

Kung sakaling hindi siya coach sa The Voice Kids, would Lea allow her daughter to join the show?

Tugon niya, “I don’t know... I don’t know.

“Parang ayoko. I mean, these kids [na kasali sa The Voice Kids] go through a lot.

“And we see what they go through. I don’t know if I wanna put my kid through that.

“It’s a lot! It’s really a lot.

“I don’t know if she is prepared necessarily for something like this.”

“Uhm… she would have to show something really, really special.

"For me kasi, I cannot deny what her talent is.

“Pero parang her talent is lying elsewhere. Parang, what she really loves to do is like draw and paint, and design.

“And that seems to be where she goes. So, parang doon yata yung mapupuntahan niya.

“Parang that’s where her fate is.”
