In an interview with (Philippine Entertainment Portal) last October 21, Matteo revealed that his presidential bet is Davao Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who’s known for his iron-fisted leadership.

The Kapamilya actor believes that Mayor Duterte has what it takes to be the next president of the Philippines.

“I want [a leader who can] change the Philippines big time.

“Somebody with a strong hand. Somebody who can move mountains like Duterte.

“But [he has decided not to run] so it’s sad. I don’t know,” said Matteo, referring to Mayor Duterte’s decision not to file for certificate of candidacy (COC) as president last October 16.

It remains to be seen whether or not Mayor Duterte will change his mind about joining the presidential race.

As it is, the final list of candidates will be announced by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) on December 10.

Matteo, for his part, is determined to exercise his right to vote in the much-anticipated national elections next year.

He reasoned, “We have to stay positive and see where the future is gonna go.

“Let’s hope for the best. The Philippines is the number one place in the world. Let’s move mountains, I guess.”
