Veteran actress Amalia Fuentes suffers stroke while on vacation in South Korea

Veteran actress Amalia Fuentes suffered an ischemic stroke on October 9, while on vacation in South Korea. According to her grandchildren, Amalia is now back in the country and recuperating in a hospital.


Kinumpirma ng mga apo ni Amalia Fuentes na na-stroke ang veteran actress habang nagbabakasyon sa South Korea noong October 9.

Isang official statement ang ipinamahagi nina Alyanna, Alfonso, at Alissa Martinez sa media, kabilang na ang PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), upang ipaalam ang nangyari sa kanilang lola.

Sina Alyanna, Alfonso, at Alissa ang mga apo ni Amalia sa yumao niyang anak na si Liezl Martinez at ng aktor na si Albert Martinez.

Ayon sa magkakapatid, natagpuan ang kanilang lola ng kaibigan nito sa kanyang hotel room sa South Korea.

Agad daw isinugod si Amalia sa isang ospital sa Seoul kung saan na-confine siya sa intensive care unit.

Patuloy ng magkakapatid, "After a few weeks, when she was finally stabilized, her Korean doctors allowed her to travel back to the Philippines."

Bumalik daw sa Pilipinas si Amalia noong October 27, at mula sa tarmac ay idiniretso siya sa ospital.

Sabi pa ng Martinez siblings, "We were informed by her doctors that she hopefully can be discharged within two weeks.

"She will continue her recuperation at home and will be undergoing extensive therapy soon after."

Humihiling din ang magkapatid ng dasal para sa agarang paggaling ng kanilang lola.

"It is with deep sadness that we, the grandchildren of Amalia Fuentes, are confirming that she had suffered an ischemic stroke on Oct. 9, while on vacation in South Korea.

"She was discovered by her friend in her hotel room and was immediately rushed to a hospital in Seoul where she was placed in an intensive care unit.

"After a few weeks when she was finally stabilized, her Korean doctors allowed her to travel back to the Philippines.

"Upon her return on Oct. 27, from the tarmac she was brought straight to the hospital.

"We were informed by her doctors that she hopefully can be discharged within two weeks.
