Jaya makes her first appearance in It's Showtime's "Tawag ng Tanghalan" today, July 16. She will be a weekly hurado in the said singing competition.

A day after the final episode of her GMA primetime series Poor Senorita, Jaya immediately returns to work.

But this time, in the rival station ABS-CBN.

Today, July 16, the Queen of Soul is set to be a judge in It’s Showtime’s singing competition “Tawag ng Tanghalan.”

Earlier today, she also posted a tweet saying it’s her first day at work again.

The official Twitter account of “Tawag ng Tanghalan” also happily welcomed the singer in their show.

In her appearance earlier in the noontime show, the 45-year-old singer said that she is excited to be working in the Kapamilya network.

She said, “This all happens so fast.

“Gusto kong magpasalamat sa It’s Showtime for including me.

“I’m just so excited to be here on ABS-CBN. I’m excited to start my new life here.”

In a text message sent to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) by Cornerstone artist handler Cynthia Roque, she confirmed that Jaya will be a permanent judge in the noontime show’s singing competition

However, just like the other “hurados,” Jaya will only appear on the show as a weekly judge.

When PEP asked if Jaya will be an exclusive Kapamilya talent, no answer has been given yet.

Jaya is known to be connected with GMA Network for the past 16 years.

She had been part of the network’s Sunday noontime shows SOP (2000-2010), Party Pilipinas (2010-2013), and Sunday All Stars (2013-2015).

She also hosted several game and talk shows like All Star K! (2002-2009), One Proud Mama (aired on QTV, 2008-2009), BandaOke (2009-2010), and Nay-1-1 (2012).

With her popularity as a singer, Jaya also made her acting debut in the network via the TV series Diva in 2010.

This was followed by Mga Basang Sisiw (2013), Yagit (2014), MariMar (2015), and Poor Senorita, which aired its final episode yesterday, July 15.

Last year, there were reports saying that Jaya was about to leave GMA after auditioning for ABS-CBN’s Your Face Sounds Familiar.

However, she did not pass the said audition so she returned to GMA and took the role of Corazon in MariMar.
