The first time Vin Abrenica learned that his elder brother Aljur Abrenica and Kylie Padilla are expecting a baby, he was shocked.
The 25-year-old Kapamilya actor said, "One day, nagte-taping lang ako, 'tapos nakita ko, buntis na, confirmed na..."
Asked where he saw the news, Vin exclaimed, "Sa Facebook!”
Vin went on to explain that he moved out of Aljur’s house in Quezon City sometime last year.
Although he did not specify the date, Vin added that it was long before Aljur and Kylie reconciled.
The younger Abrenica told this writer, “Nung humiwalay ako sa kanya dati, wala pa, they’re not living together. Hindi pa sila magkasama nun...
"Wala akong idea na nag live-in na sila.
"At wala rin akong idea na may baby na."
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was able to interview Vin after the presscon of ABS-CBN's teleserye Wildflower at 9501 Restaurant in ABS-CBN, Wednesday afternoon, February 8.
It was on January 23 when PEP reported that Kylie is pregnant.
The following day, January 24, Aljur and Kylie spoke to PEP and confirmed that they are indeed expecting a baby.
The couple also revealed in the same interview that they've been living together since November 2016.
HAPPY FOR ALJUR AND KYLIE. Vin however clarified that it was no big deal to him even if he just learned about his kuya's current situation via social media.
The Wildlflower actor said his brother Aljur probably had a lot of things on his mind at the time.
He elaborated, “Parang iniisip ko kasi, kung magiging tatay ako, ang dami kong iisipin. ‘Paano ko aalagaan yung wife ko? Baka may check-ups.'
"Or kung sinu-sino na kinakausap niya. Or nababaliw na siya kung paano niya sasabihin sa family niya…
“Basta ako, I’m giving him all the time.
"‘Kuya, pag-isipan mo lahat ng gusto mong gawin. I’m just here to support you and be happy for you.’”
According to the Kapamilya actor, his parents also took the news well, “Ang pamilya namin, a baby is always a blessing to us."
Growing up, Vin recalled that his parents constantly reminded him and Aljur that having a baby is something to be proud of.
“I remember, there was a time when we were young, sinabi sa akin ng dad ko na part ng dream niya is to see our babies.
“Sasabihin niya sa akin, ‘Anak, kung magkaka-baby ka, huwag mong ipapalaglag, ha?’
“Hindi pa ako nagtatrabaho nito, ha. Estudyante pa lang ako. Alam mo yun? Parang, ‘Ok, Dad.’
“So, we’re not scared. Alam ko na they are there to support and take care of the baby.”
