Piolo Pascual claims that he was misquoted in a previous interview when asked about his relationship status with Shaina Magdayao.
In that interview, the Kapamilya matinee idol was quoted saying that he and Shaina have been exclusively dating for five years.
For her part, Shaina said in a statement that while it is true that she and Piolo are going out, they are free to date others, which contradicted the actor's claim.
But Shaina also said that they are not dating anybody else, that's why Piolo described their status as "exclusively dating.”
However, the inconsistency in their answers drew flak from netizens. Some even said that their romantic status is just for show.
But Piolo seems unperturbed by these comments.
He said, “In all honesty, hindi ko nababasa yung mga bashing, which is good.
"So, whatever people say, it doesn’t matter."
What's important, according to Piolo, he and Shaina understand each other.
“You speak the same language, you are on the same page, so kasama ang mga ganyan.
"Kasama sa trabaho, kasama sa buhay ang mga negatibong bagay.
“Pag nagdu-dwell ka dun, sayang naman ang ganda ng buhay kung di mo ie-enjoy.”
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters were able to interview Piolo during his contract signing as the new celebrity endorser of Mega Sardines by Mega Global company, held at Seared Restaurant in Julia Vargas St., Ortigas, Tuesday, March 7.
The 40-year-old actor further stated that he and Shaina have resolved their contradicting statements.
“Na-resolve naman namin between us, so okay naman kami.
“Actually, Shai asked me about it. Sabi niya, ‘Ito lumabas.’
"What’s good about our relationship is that we’re really open, we don’t really keep anything from each other.
"So I said, ‘Say what is true, what is sincere, what is right, what is honest, and you’ll never go wrong.'
“So, even if you’re misquoted, for as long as you know that you’re communication lines are open and you have a healthy relationship, you’re honest to each other, then wala kayong problema.”
Asked who was misquoted in their respective interviews, Piolo replied, “Ako. So, okay na yun.”
He did not elaborate.
Pressed about the real score between him and Shaina, Piolo answered evasively, “What you see is what you get. Ito lang kami, so yun lang yun.”
