In a few hours, Miss Universe Philippines 2016 Maxine Medina will officially relinquish the crown to another deserving Pinay at the grand coronation night of Binibining Pilipinas 2017.
The pageant's culminating activity is scheduled to happen on Sunday night, April 30, at the SMART Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City. A total of 40 candidates are vying for the six crowns at the pageant.
Aside from Maxine, the other beauty queens who will be crowing their respective successors are Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa, Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2016 Jennifer Hammond, Binibining Pilipinas Supranational 2016 Joanna Louise Eden, Binibining Pilipinas Grand International 2016 Nicole Cordoves, and Binibining Pilipinas Globe 2016 Nichole Marie Manalo.
Maxine represented the Philippines at the 65th edition of the Miss Universe pageant where 85 other candidates from countries around the globe competed. It was also the third Miss Universe held in the country.
Hours before the Bb. Pilipinas coronation night, Maxine posted a throwback photo of her Miss Universe stint last January. The 26-year-old beauty queen expressed her gratitude towards her Filipino fans for their unwavering support, and for allowing her to represent the country at the prestigious international pageant.
Maxine's caption reads: "Passing on my crown tomorrow and I will never forget what the Universe taught me."
"Thank you my fellow Filipinos for choosing me to be your representative and be part of the historical event the Miss Universe 2016.
"It was a wonderful journey that I will treasure forever."
She ended her caption with one of the biggest things she learned throughout the whole journey.
Maxine told the candidates, "To all the 40 candidates this is your chance to give it all. Take pride and have faith in how far you can go. The best advice? SMILE SMILE AND SMILE."
