Cover stars of YES! 100 Most Beautiful 2017 Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo appealed to netizens to stop spreading hate messages on social media.
In CyberSmile Foundation’s PSA video, Kathryn said, “We know what it’s like to be bullied in cyberspace. It's really depressing and sometimes really painful.
“And so we say, stop cyberbullying.”
The two Star Magic artists have officially joined the CyberSmile Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to “all forms of digital abuse and bullying online.”
Daniel, for his part, expressed his concern over the fact that some netizens tend to abuse their freedom of expression in social media.
“No one has any right to disrespect others and be rude because you are not seen or can be anonymous on cyberspace.”
At the red-carpet event of YES! last night, July 11, both Kathryn and Daniel have taken the first step in raising awareness about cyberbullying by asking for their fans’ support.
Noting how some fans can be “overprotective” of their reel and real-life teamup, the 21-year-old actress said, “Dapat intindihin din natin kung saan sila nanggagaling.
“Pero basta tayo, walang naapakang ibang tao.
“Basta nandiyan lang sila to protect us, walang problema dun.”
In a separate report of PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Daniel and Kathryn also addressed the issue about their La Luna Sangre co-star Tony Labrusca being bashed because of their love triangle on the show.
The 22-year-old actor said, “I’m sure na aware si Tony na mangyayari yun [bashing]... pero kailangan niyang tanggapin.
“And kailangan niyang tanggapin and kailangan ding tigil-tigilan ng mga fans.
"Tigilan niyo. It’s just a show.
“Pero relax lang, huwag kayo nang-aano ng mga tao dahil hindi naman sila yun, character lang nila yun.”
