Jessy says she is taking her time when it comes to her career growth in showbiz. "Actually, I'm not asking for superstar status," she declared. "What I'm hoping for is longevity."

Jessy Mendiola said she has no complaints about waiting long for her turn to headline her own teleserye in ABS-CBN.

The 24-year-old actress gave this statement when asked how she handles ups and downs in her showbiz career.

She said, “Sabi nga nila, kapag walang teleserye, laos.

“Pero pag nasa TV ka, sikat ka. Laging ganun, e.

“I mean, sa dami ng artista, hindi puwedeng ako at ako lang.

“I mean, di ba, iba naman.

“It’s like a surge. Kumbaga, papalit-palit lang.

“So, I’m just waiting for it.”

The last time Jessy was cast in a titular role was in the Kapamilya network remake of the Mexican telenovela Maria Mercedes, which ran from October 2013 to January 2014.

Her next primetime teleserye came months after when she joined the family drama You’re My Home, top billed by veteran actors Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta. The said series ran from November 2015 to March 2016.

Does she feel the lack of consistency in her path to stardom?

Jessy answered, “Actually, I’m not asking for superstar status.

“What I’m hoping for is longevity.

“So, yung haba, I don’t see it that way, e... andun na, tapos stop, andun na, tapos stop.

“Lahat ng artista, may ganun.” (Philippine Entertainment Portal) was able to interview Jessy at the presscon for Salvage, a 2015 Cinema One Originals film which will be released in mainstream theaters from August 16 to 22 for the Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino.

The presscon was held at Ayala Vertis North, Quezon City, last August 1.

What are her network bosses’ career plans for her now that she’ no longer part of ABS-CBN’s weekly gag show Banana Sundae?

“Actually, nakasalubong ko kanina si Tita Malou,” she related, referring to Malou Santos, chief operating officer of Star Creatives, a business unit in ABS-CBN which produces teleseryes.

“Nasabihan ako ng soap na ‘to months ago, pero may binago sila, may mga inaayos pa sila.

“I think they’re ready to pitch mga two weeks from now.”

Jessy also said she is not one to hurry when it comes to her career growth.

“Ako naman, I’m just following what the management says.

“I’m searching for change.

“Siyempre if you wanna change, you’d like to take your time,” she explained.

“Hindi naman puwedeng if you wanna grow with your career, nagmamadali ka.

“I wanna do as much as I can with any roles.”
