Alden Richards on inspiring his avid fans with his personal experiences and convictions: "That's really one of my advocacies—to really use media to influence the youth and to influence viewers na nanonood sa amin every day. To be the ones to initiate change in the country—to change for the better, to change for the good."

Aminado si Alden Richards na kabilang sa mga pagsubok na pinagdaanan ng kanyang pamilya ang dinanas na depression ng yumaong ina na si Rosario Faulkerson.

Noong October 6, isiniwalat ng Kapuso actor, sa pamamagitan ng Twitter, na bata pa lamang siya ay nasaksihan niya ang pagkakaroon ng kanyang ina ng "bipolar depression."

Ang ina ni Alden ay pumanaw noong 2008 dahil sa pneumonia.

Inihayag ito ni Alden isang araw matapos magbigay ang kanyang co-hosts na sina Joey Marquez at Maine Mendoza ng magkasalungat na opinyon tungkol sa depression sa "Juan For All, All For Juan" segment ng Eat Bulaga.

Sa panayam ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) ngayong araw, October 12, sinabi ni Alden na hindi niya inaasahang marami sa kanyang followers ang na-touch sa tweet niya.

Aniya, "I just felt like I wanted to share that with the public, just for them to know that I had that experience in my life when I was young."
