Celebrity couple Doug Kramer and Chesca Garcia shrugged off the recent controversy that hounded them.
A number of netizens criticized Chesca’s post about a Bible verse and an accompanying illustration being interpreted as wives needing to be submissive to their husbands.
While others agreed, many netizens raised the issue of sexism, or inequality between a husband and a wife when it comes to their roles at home.
In a recent endorsement event this week, the couple briefly aired their side about the issue.
The 34-year-old PBA player stated he let go of the matter as soon as he made another post in response to the controversy.
Doug said, “We can’t please everybody, but we try and be a blessing to people.
"That’s the most important thing."
For her part, Chesca said she's not bothered if people find something to criticize about them.
The 37-year-old celebrity mom added, “We’ve already addressed the issue.
“At the end of the day, what really matters is that we’re united as a family and everybody has seen what we are, and that stays true.
“It’s all positive.”
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters spoke to Doug and Chesca at the Hapee toothpaste products launch, Tuesday, October 24.
Last October 23, Monday, Doug made a very long post on his social media accounts to explain their stand on the issue.
In a nutshell, the cager clarified that while they stick to the teachings of the Bible about the different roles between a husband and a wife, “that doesn't mean the wife's role is lesser of the husband.”
Another part of his post read, “I never treat or make Chesca feel she is inferior to me.”
