Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach apologizes via Twitter to the LGBT community after a number of them took offense with her reason for wanting to have gay child.

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is shocked to find herself misunderstood and in hot water with the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender) community, which she has been a staunch supporter of.

This happened after she declared, in the December 25 episode of Tonight With Boy Abunda (TWBA), that she wanted a gay child.

When the TWBA host asked why a gay child, Pia responded, “Because I really believe na aalagaan ka nila pagka matanda ka na.

"Not to say na hindi ka aalagaan kung straight iyong anak mo, pero based on my experience, iba mag-alaga iyong beki.

"And gusto kong ma-experience iyong mayroon [akong anak], excited na bihisan ako, ayusan ako, alagaan ako…

"Parang magiging best friend ko. Nai-imagine ko na iyong anak ko, magiging best friend ko, at beki siya."

A number of netizens said they were offended by her response, saying that it was misguided and that it contradicted her advocacy of gender equality.

Pia, an outspoken LGBT advocate, tweeted this Tuesday afternoon, December 27, that she was shocked by netizens’ reactions to her statement on the ABS-CBN late-night talk show.

Part of her tweet reads: “Please don’t misinterpret what I said. I have high regards for the LGBT. It was just a fun interview, guys! Meant no disrespect at all. Mahal ko kayo.” .

The beauty queen also said that she meant no harm with what she said.

“Meant no malice at all. I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding.”
