The parents of Eleila Santos, Myra and Roel Santos, have filed legal complaints against showbiz personality Ellen Adarna before the Pasig City Prosecutor’s Office earlier today, May 15.
Eleila is the 17-year-old teenage netizen whom Ellen tagged as "paparazzi" in the latter’s series of Instagram stories last May 4.
Myra and Roel made this legal move eight days after the former demanded a public apology from Ellen for falsely accusing Eleila of taking a video of the actress and her boyfriend John Lloyd Cruz while they were dining at a ramen restaurant in Makati City.
In an exchange of text messages with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), Myra and Roel’s legal counsel Atty. Arnold Labay confirmed that their camp has filed “anti-cyber crime” and “anti-child abuse” complaints against Ellen.
His brief statement read: “Yes, Myra and Roel Santos, to protect the rights of their minor daughter, filed earlier today complaints for violations R.A. 7610 (Anti-child abuse Law) and R.A. 10175 (Anti-Cyber Crime Law) against Ms. Ellen Adarna.”
Myra has also confirmed to PEP.ph that she and her husband filed the complaints versus Ellen before the Pasig Prosecutor's Office earlier this morning, but did not further comment on the issue.
Ellen did not issue any reply within the five-day period that Myrna has asked the actress to publicly apologize for calling Eleila “guilty, rude, and has been repeatedly insinuating my daughter is lying.”
Myra’s open letter, dated May 7, read in part, “As her family, we ask you to publicly apologise to Eleila.
"We prefer not to take this further, but as our only daughter, we are ready to take this wherever needed to protect her integrity.
"As much as no one has the right to breach your privacy, you have no right to ruin my daughter’s reputation."
ELLEN'S ACCUSATION. It was on May 4, 2018 when Ellen first posted videos showing Eleila and her male companion with a caption that read, “When you PAP us we PAP you. Its a tie. #PAParazziMoves”
In her own Twitter post later that day, Eleila denied that she was doing a paparrazi move on the two celebrities.
Eleila explained that she didn’t even notice the celebrity couple at the restaurant as she was preoccupied with taking snaps of her food.
The following day, May 5, Ellen posted selfie videos via her Instagram story, insisting that she caught Eleila taking a snap of her and John Lloyd.
Ellen said, “Girl, if you take a video of your food, you focus on the food—you don’t focus or you show the people in the background.
“And when she realized that I was doing what she did, she kinda panicked, but she can see in my video…
“She didn’t even know what to do. She wanted to get her chopsticks, but she wanted to do something with her phone.”
ELEILA'S SIDE OF THE STORY. In response, Eleila posted via Twitter a short video clip showing her food and her male companion eating ramen.
The video also showed a brief glimpse of Ellen and John Lloyd seated at the other end of the restobar.
Eleila then tweeted that she really had "no clue" that the two stars happened to be there when she was taking a video of her food and the restobar's interior.
“As an artist I think you should be professional upon solving such things. It's clearly not right for her to simply assume without knowing our side as well. What she did is not only unethical but illegal as well.
“If I knew I was at a fault I would admit it pero yun nga I really had no clue na nasama pa pala siya sa story ko if my story was inappropriate for her she couldve confronted me in the restaurant.”
Referring to Ellen’s videos of her and her male companion, Eleila added, “kami talaga yung na #PAPArazzimoves”
PEP.ph remains open to any statement that will be issued by Ellen and the Santoses' camp regarding this issue.
