Saad niya, “Personally, I don’t have problem with it.
"But I do understand why there is quite an uproar amongst all the fans and different people looking at the issue, because it is a very young discussion about the LGBTQ [lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer].
“And especially coming into the arena of pageantry, where it’s traditional that is natural-born women [who compete].
"But I think it really depends on—one, Miss Universe Organization, if they allow it, and that’s their prerogative, and also the bansa itself, or the country itself, if that contestant, who may be transgender, can go through the casting process, become a candidate, get judging and earn the right to represent her country, then why not?
“Who are we to say that’s wrong? I mean, it’s the discussion talaga of the organization.”
Pahayag ng Pinay beauty queen, “I know, I understand the discussion, I really do, and I’m trying to see it from all of sides.
"But also a side we need to consider is that this contestant didn’t wake up one day and say, ‘I wanna be a woman.’
"This is someone who she identified to be since she was a child, so in her inner being, she is a woman.
"So, parang, are we open-minded to allow her to compete with other women?
"And I think that is something we should talk about."
