"That's vacation for me, e," says Tom Rodriguez about his plan to lock himself up inside his room after his work with The Cure ends.

GMA primetime series The Cure ends after two weeks. Tom Rodriguez has already planned what he is going to do after the show where he and

“That’s vacation for me, e. So I’m gonna try to come up with yung animation. Sana pulido na sana na short [film].

“Kasi sa October, may expo dito na a lot of animators that I look up to,  Disney animators that I follow on YouTube like si Armand Serrano who’s an animator for Dreamworks and marami pa are coming here.

“Last year hindi ako umabot, e. Hindi ko pa siya na-meet nang personal.

“Hindi pa, pina-follow ko sila, matagal na. So this time, I made sure na I bought tickets early so hopefully by that time, sa September may nabuo na ako na short [film] to show them.”

“Just as a portfolio to show to some experts, so they can critique my work, hopefully.”

“No. The good thing with this is, like, especially nowadays, you can  literally work from anywhere.

“Kung dati nga yung kunwari si Leinil Francis Yu, yung comic book artist na Pilipino from Marvel, akala ko, growing up sa States, akala ko dun siya based sa States, na Pinoy.

“Nalaman ko lang nung um-attend ako mga three years ago sa Asia Pop ComicCon nung na-meet ko siya finally, sinabi niya, hindi, pini-FedEx  nila nung ‘90s.

“So, dati nung hindi pa digital, kung noon nga nagawa nila dati, what more ngayon na isang email na lang?

“You can work from anywhere.”

Actually tumawag sa akin kahapon si Direk Jo Macasa [from GMA] and si Direk Lore Reyes and they’re telling me about a project that they’re doing.”

“I’m a big fan of Magic Temple in my childhood, so I was pitching an idea sana na animated short or animated series na based on Magic Temple.

“It would be fun, sana Saturday morning cartoon dito na Tagalog magawa natin.

“That will be fun.

“I want to tell stories kasi nai-inspire ako whenever I see stories.

“Kunwari our directors here, like, si Direk Mark [Reyes na direktor ng The Cure], like, how they tell stories with their craft din, parang nahawa ako na I want to do that imbes na ang dino-drawing ko puro mukha puro ganito, puro ganyan.

“I want sana na may istorya na animation.

“Iyon muna ang kaya kong i-handle.”

Hindi ba mahirap yun?

“Pero nag-e-enjoy ako, e! Like, kunwari nasa kotse lang ako naghihintay, standby sa taping between takes, nagdo-drawing lang ako, kahit sa iPad,” pagtatapos ni Tom.
