Aniya, “It’s no longer Asian-American, the younger generation identifies being Filipino-American.
“So I said that nararamdaman ko and my heart feels that when bits and pieces came out about what my role was, for any Filipino, I may think you would… whether you like me or not, the fact that a Filipino got to play that role will matter.
“So, I think yun yung naramdaman ko na parang so many of the followers in the Philippines, ang ipinaglalaban nila, gown, kung anong gown ang isusuot.
“Maybe also, let’s be perfectly honest, here in the States, they get to hear non-stop negative news about our country.
“And so, I think this is a chance na… and I wanna say thank you to Kevin [Kwan] for this, to Warner Bros. for this opportunity that we can be proud and we all want to be proud.”
HER LEGACY
Tugon ng 47-year-old actress-social media star, “There’s something that life has taught me.
“In order for you to become a true person, you have to know where you stand and what you stand for.
“And in doing that, though, there is no need to step on anybody else to reach your goals.
“So, I hope that with however long God plans me to be doing this that people would realize that.
“And I never fail to say thank you because all of this is really a gift.”
“Pero in the culture that we have now, I don’t want to turn into the others.
“Ayokong makipagbastusan, ayokong may maapakan, ayokong may mainsulto.
“Kung bina-bash ako, bash me, go ahead. Pero, I’m not going to bash you back.
“Because you’re just making it go round and round in a circle.
“When actually, I am the perfect example. Everybody had written me off. And that’s just two years ago.
“But look at where I’m walking tomorrow.
“So, yun 'yon. I want everyone, whoever felt that all doors are closing, wala nang pag-asa, that it was useless to keep going, I went for it, because I felt there was nothing to lose.”
"I APOLOGIZE."
Bahagi ng kanyang post sa Instagram ngayong hapon, "I apologize- they got the semi dehydrated, low blood pressure version of me at the lunchtime Asian Journal picture taking/meet & greet."
