David Licauco, 22, has no worries about having a video scandal of him getting leaked on social media.
“Wala. Hindi ako ganun. I’m not the type,” said David, who expressed his thoughts about the pros and cons of people spending a lot of time on social media.
“Nag-start ako sa social media. Dun ako nakilala ng mga tao.
"But then, concerned lang ako. Like, porn is very accessible there."
The Mr. Chinatown 2014 first-runner-up said that people should learn to manage when to do digital detox.
“Kunwari nag-hang out ka with friends, ang ginagawa mo nag-Instagram lang, so parang ganun.
“I wish na tumira tayo nung wala pa tayong social media.”
But as much as David wants to limit his use of Instagram or Twitter, he acknowledged the value of establishing social media presence especially for those who are in showbiz.
As seen in David's topless photos on Instagram, part of staying competitive with other aspiring actors is maintaining a toned physique.
He elaborated, “Now kasi, with Facebook and Instagram, halos lahat ng tao nakikita na agad lahat.
“As you’ve noticed, yung mga bata ngayon, kahit yung mga high school students, ang poporma nila, nagdyi-gym sila, nagda-diet na sila.
“Yung kapatid ko nga na 16 years old, alam na yung intermittent fasting.
"Siyempre dahil sa social media, mas may awareness.
“I guess, kahit pangit sabihin na nabubuhay na tayo sa social media, na medyo mababaw, kailangan natin makisabay."
PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) interviewed David at the presscon for GMA-7 daytime series Kapag Nahati Ang Puso, where he is cast as the best friend of Bea Binene.
The presscon was held at the 17th floor of GMA Network Center in Quezon City last July 6.
BASKETBALL VARSITY DAYS
David used to be a basketball varsity player for College of St. Benilde, where he finished a bachelor's degree in Information System.
But he quit from the varsity team after figuring in a car accident with his friends back in 2013.
“Pababa kami ng Tagaytay, tumama kami sa gas truck.
"Five kaming magkakasama. May isang namatay, best friend ko."
David added that he only got minor injuries, but suffered "psychological pain" after the car accident.
It was at that point when David realized that playing ball is not the right career path for him.
"Na-realize ko rin na hindi ako makakapag-PBA.
"Hindi naman ako super-galing na parang Kiefer Ravena na ipe-pursue ko.
"Hindi naman ako ganun katangkad, I'm only 5'11" so nag-decide ako mag-modeling and acting."
MAKING SHOWBIZ HIS CAREER
An exclusive Kapuso talent, the first time David was cast in a full-length series was in the 2017 fantaserye Mulawin vs. Ravena.
This year, he landed a supporting role for Kapag Nahati Ang Puso and a lead role for the movie Because I Love You opposite Shaira Diaz.
How does he find showbiz so far?
David replied, "I'm really happy with the progress, with the projects I'm getting.
"Super passionate talaga ako sa lahat ng ginagawa ko. Like, with basketball, I gave my 100 percent.
"Sa mga ex ko, 100 percent din ang binigay ko. Hindi yun hugot, seryoso lang!
"Eto naman sa acting, dito ako focused ngayon. I always go to workshops.
"I'm giving it my 100 percent effort."
