Mariel de Leon has no plans of backing down and taking back her previous statements despite criticisms. "It's 2018. Strong women rule," she says.

I don't like being called beauty queen. It means nothing to me.”

Sabi ni Mariel, "You can choose what affects you. Choose the positive.

"Choose the people that matter and that have been with you through your journey since day 1."

“I really don’t get how people can get offended by someone else’s life choices.

“People who stick their nose in other people’s lives are the ones that have no lives themselves,” mensahe ni Mariel.

“People -especially in Asian culture- need to let go of the idea of women needing to be submissive and quiet.

“They believe we have no right to voice our opinions.

“They expect us to just sit pretty.

“It's 2018. Strong women rule.”
