Spanish soccer coach Francisco Garcia dies from COVID-19 at age 21

Spanish soccer coach Francisco Garcia died from COVID-19 on March 16, 2020, a few days after he was diagnosed as having leukemia.

Isang Spanish soccer coach ang binawian ng buhay dahil sa COVID-19, ilang araw lamang matapos siyang ma-diagnose ng leukemia habang siya ay nasa ospital.

Si Francisco Garcia ang mismong nagsugod sa sarili niya sa ospital noong March 13 matapos makaranas ng matinding hirap sa paghinga.

Ayon sa Spanish news site na Malaga Hoy, kinumpirma ng mga doktor na mayroong COVID-19 at pneumonia si Garcia base sa kanyang test results.

Maliban dito, sinabihan din ang batang coach na mayroon siyang leukemia, na maaaring magpalala ng kanyang kondisyon.

At pagkalipas lamang ng tatlong araw, binawian ng buhay si Garcia noong March 16. Siya ay 21 taong gulang lamang.

Si Garcia ang pinakabatang pasyente sa Spain na namatay dahil sa COVID-19.

Base sa mga report, sinabi ng infectious disease experts na mas malaki sana ang tsansang mabuhay ni Garcia kung hindi dahil sa kanyang leukemia.

Si Garcia ang youth team coach ng Malaga-based soccer club na Atlético Cotada Alta.

Nagpaabot naman ng pakikiramay ang kanyang team sa pamamagitan ng isang Facebook post:

"From Atlético Cotada Alta we want to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends and relatives of our coach Francisco Garcia who has left us, unfortunately, today.

"Now what do we do without you, Francis?

"How are we going to continue conquering [the league] ? We don't know how, but we will surely do it for you..."

Ayon sa interview ng The Independent sa club president na si Pep Bueno, hindi niya akalaing mangyayari ito dahil bumuti na ang kalagayan ni Garcia isang oras lamang bago ito bawian ng buhay.

Aniya, "Francisco was a great guy and a very talented coach. We are all still shocked.

"The hospital rang me at 7pm on Sunday to say his condition had stabilized, but then an hour later because of the coronavirus and (cancer) ... I do not believe it. It seems impossible to me."

Sa kasalukuyan, ang Spain ay may 21,571 positive cases ng COVID-19, 1,093 deaths, at 1,588 recoveries.
