Country music icon Kenny Rogers dies at 81

A representative of Kenny Rogers says, “He passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family.”

Pumanaw na ang country music icon na si Kenny Rogers.

Binawian siya ng buhay sa Sandy Springs, Georgia, Biyernes ng gabi, March 20 (U.S. time). Siya ay 81.

Sa pamamagitan ng official Twitter account ni Kenny, inanunsiyo ng representative nito ang pagyao ng singer.

Kalakip ang lumang larawan ng country singer, sinabi rin sa statement:

"Rogers passed away peacefully at home from natural causes under the care of hospice and surrounded by his family."

Ayon sa Variety.com, dahil sa COVID-19 emergency sa Amerika, pinaplano ng pamilya ng singer na magsagawa muna ng "small private service." At saka na raw nila isusunod ang isang public memorial.

Ilan sa mga pinasikat niyang mga kanta ay "The Gambler, “Lady,” “Islands in the Stream,” “Lucille,” "You Decorated My Life," "She Believes In Me," "Three Times A Lady," at marahil ang pinakapamilyar sa mga Pilipino—ang "Through The Years."

Si Kenny ay isa sa founders ng Kenny Rogers Roasters, ang chain ng chicken-based restaurants established noong 1981 at ipinangalan sa kanya.

Ang ka-partner niya rito ay John Y. Brown Jr., na dating CEO ng KFC.
