Spanish princess, famous Japanese comedian among COVID-19 victims

Walang pinipili ang COVID-19.

Anuman ang kasarian, edad, nasyonalidad, at estado sa buhay, ang isang tao ay maaaring dapuan o mahawaan ng coronavirus.

Ito ang malinaw na katotohanan sa patuloy na dumaraming bilang ng mga nagpositibo at namatay sa COVID-19.

Kabilang sa mga nasawi ang dalawa sa kilalang international celebrities—ang Spanish royal na si Princess Maria Teresa at ang sikat na Japanese comedian na si Ken Shimura.

PRINCESS MARIA TERESA

Si Princess Maria Teresa de Borbon-Parma ang kauna-unahang royal na namatay dahil sa COVID-19.

Pumanaw siya noong March 26 sa edad na 86.

Inanunisyo ng kapatid niyang si Prince Sixto Enrique de Borbon, Duke of Arajunez, ang kanyang pagpanaw:

"On this afternoon… our sister Maria Teresa de Borbon Parma and Borbon Busset, victim of the coronavirus COVID-19, died in Paris at the age of eighty-six."

Pinsan ni Princess Maria Teresa si King Felipe IV ng Spain.

Ayon sa People, si Princess Maria Teresa ay tinaguriang "Red Princess" dahil sa kanyang "outspoken views."

Naging professor siya sa Sorbonne University sa Paris at Complutense University sa Madrid.

Kilala rin si Princess Maria Teresa bilang masugid na advocate ng women's rights.

Hindi siya nag-asawa kailanman.

KEN SHIMURA

Si Ken Shimura naman ang kauna-unahang Japanese celebrity na namatay dahil sa COVID-19.

Pumanaw si Shimura noong March 29 sa edad na 70.

Si Shimura ay isang beteranong slapstick comedian.

Naging miyembro rin siya ng rock ’n’ roll band and comedy group na The Drifters, isang household name sa Japan noong 1970s at 1980s.

Ayon sa Japan Times, naospital si Shimura noong March 20 matapos lagnatin at na-diagnose na mayroong severe pneumonia.

Nalamang positibo siya sa COVID-19 noong March 23.
