K-pop boy band BTS, ARMY fans donate $2M to Black Lives Matter

Popular Korean boy band BTS on June 4 releases a statement on Twitter in support of the Black Lives Matter movement: "We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together."

Nag-donate ng $1 million ang sikat na Korean boy band na BTS para sa Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement sa Amerika, at tinapatan ito ng karagdagang $1 million ng kanilang ARMY fans.

Ang donasyon ay pagpapakita ng suporta ng BTS sa malawakang kilos-protesta sa iba’t ibang lugar sa Amerika laban sa racism at police brutality.

Sumiklab ang BLM movement kasunod ng pagpatay ng white police officer na si Derek Chauvin sa black citizen na si George Floyd sa Minneapolis, nitong May 25.

Sa mga sumunod na araw, nagsisulputan ang malawakang anti-racism protests sa iba pang estado ng Amerika.

Nagkasa na rin ng BLM protests sa iba’t ibang bansa, tulad sa United Kingdom, France, Australia, Spain, at Italy.

Nitong Huwebes, June 4, gamit ang kanilang official Twitter account, nanindigan ang BTS laban sa racial discrimination at karahasan.

Ginamit ng seven-member na BTS ang #BlackLivesMatter.

Tweet ng BTS: "We stand against racial discrimination.

Sabado, June 6, naman nang kinumpirma ng Big Hit Entertainment na nag-donate ang sikat na boy band ng $1 million (PHP49.9 million) sa BLM movement.

Ang Big Hit ang talent management agency ng BTS.

Ayon sa report ng Reuters, nag-viral ang #BlackLivesMatter ng BTS sa grupo ng fans nito—na tinaguriang ARMY, o Adorable Representative M.C. for Youth.

Inspired ng donasyon ng kanilang mga iniidolo, nagpasimula ang ARMY ng panibagong wave ng donations, gamit naman ang #MatchAMillion.

Sabado nang inilunsad ng ARMY ang donation drive, iniulat ng Billboard.com.

Pero pagsapit pa lang ng Linggo ng gabi, June 7, ay lampas na sa $1 million ang nakalap ng ARMY.

Batay ito sa pahayag ng donation tracker ng fans group, ang One in an ARMY Charity Project.

BTS'S ARMY TO FUND PROTESTERS’ BAIL

Ngayong Lunes, June 8, inianunsiyo ng ARMY ang paglalaanan ng pondong nakalap nila.

Kabilang dito ang pagpipiyansa sa mga inarestong raliyista, pagpopondo sa mga organisasyong kontra sa “systematic injustice,” at suportang medikal sa black community.

Mababasa sa tweet ng One in an ARMY Charity Project:

“Just like BTS, we were able to donate 1M dollars to help fund:

“bailouts for those arrested for protesting police brutality...

“black-led advocacy orgs fighting against systemic injustice...

“support for the physical and mental health of the black community.”

Nakatakda sanang mag-perform ang BTS sa United States para sa North American leg ng kanilang “Map of the Soul” world tour nitong April 2020.

Pero nakansela ang lahat ng scheduled dates ng nabanggit na world tour, dahil sa banta ng coronavirus pandemic.

Ang “Map of the Soul: 7” ang ikapitong studio album ng BTS, na ini-launch February ngayong taon.
