Former macho dancer re-elected mayor of Capiz municipality

The municipality of President Roxas in Capiz welcomes its talented mayor for a second term!

GMA program Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho took to Facebook on July 23, 2022, to share the remarkable story of Receliste "Tanoy" Lachica Estolin.

Tanoy is once again the proud mayor of the municipality of President Roxas in Capiz, after the recent 2022 elections.

But before this milestone, he recalled having to do several other side jobs to provide for his family.

"Breadwinner kasi ako noon. Nagtatrabaho bilang waiter sa mga hotel, gano'n. Pero dahil kapos, lagi akong naghahanap ng sideline," he recounted.

"Hanggang sa may nag-alok sa akin na, 'Gusto mo sa gay bar magtrabaho?'"

He explained that he took the job, after hearing from others that it pays well.

He said, "Malaki raw kasi suweldo kapag sumasayaw, kaya pinatulan ko na yung trabaho. Kailangan ko kasing mag-survive."

"Noong una, kahit ako, kinakahiya ko yung trabaho ko," he confessed.

From then on, Mayor Tanoy had a bigger goal in mind that prompted the people in his town to vouch for his skills.

"Mahirap pero nagsikap ako. Unti-unti akong nag-ipon para makapagpundar ng maliit ng negosyo," he said.

"Yung negosyo, napalago ko! Kaya nakilala ako sa lugar at inudyok ako ng mga tao na tumakbo for public office."

He admitted that in the beginning, some residents would get sarcastic with him.

"Sinabi nila, ano raw ang gagawin ko sa bayan, patayuan ko daw ng club? Lagyan ko raw ng maraming ilaw na nagbi-blink, 'tapos sayaw-sayawan ko raw yung mga tao," the mayor shared.

"Kahit anong masasakit na salita ang sinasabi nila, binalewala ko. Nanalo ako sa eleksyon."

"Nagsimula ako bilang macho dancer pero ngayon nalinya na 'ko sa pagsisilbi sa bayan bilang Alkalde."

During the 2022 elections, the current President Roxas Municipality Mayor Tanoy vied for the same position as an independent candidate.
