Richard and Lucy: Made for each other

Celebrity couple Richard Gomez and Lucy Torres-Gomez launched their latest scent lines from Bench at the SM Mall of Asia last November 16.

The event, dubbed as Love and Conquer: Made for each other, introduced the new scents of Bench that were especially concocted by Richard and Lucy, both major endorsers of the said brand. The new line includes perfume and deo body sprays.

For Lucy's fragrance, Bench came up with Love Eau de Toilette, while Forever and Remember were created as deo body sprays. "Basically, the scents I chose are close to my heart especially the scents I kindda grew up with," revealed Lucy.

Richard, on the other hand, released Conquer Eau de Toilette and ReCharge and ReFresh. According to Richard, he personally chose these names for his line, similar to what Lucy did for hers. "ReCharge is nice because everybody can relate to the name. Everybody has a cellphone, when [it has] low [battery] you recharge. When you're tired, you refresh. And if you're an adventurous and an achiever, you try to conquer," explained Richard.

After almost one year in the making, the couple said that initially Bench thought of releasing an individual line for each of them. "Then we thought that since we're really a real-life couple and under the same company, so why not make it [as a couple]," Lucy said.

Both Richard and Lucy underwent a series of sniffing sessions, wherein they tested over a hundred scents, before they came up with the final six for their perfume. "Sobrang dami. Overload talaga. Ganun pala yun, when you tested so many scents, you had to sniff coffee in between to neutralize [our sense of smell]," explained Lucy.

Aside from personally choosing the scents and the names, the couple also helped in the packaging and concept. "Bench consulted [with] us every step of the way. So what came out, the finished product, is really a collaboration of [all our] efforts. But it's really mainly our personal taste, personal preferences," she added.

The couple hope that their new products will appeal to different types of individuals. "We could only hope that it will stand out. And according to Bench, the perfume is really selling well," concluded Richard.
