The beauties and beauty brands shine during Marie Claire magazine's Prix d'Excellance dela Beaute—a beauty award given annually to the best cosmetic products chosen by an international jury of beauty journalists—at the Le Souffle, Rockwell Club on April 25. The award has become a benchmark in the global beauty industry.
Marie Claire's May covergirl Iza Calzado, TV newsroom's fashion icon Daphne Oseña-Paez, models, beauty editors and columnists, and lady executives of beauty brands gather to celebrate the continuous evolution of beauty.
The magazine's Beauty and Fitness Editor Marie Calica says, "When I tried on eyeshadow for the first time in high school, it was chalky and felt heavy on my eyes. These days, make-up and skincare are weightless, comfortable, and even environment-friendly."
The following products are presented as the cream of the crop:
Rouge Allure lipstick by Chanel
Perfect Touch foundation by Yves Saint Laurent
Casting Crème Gloss hair color by L'Oreal Paris
UV+ Sun Care by Clarins

The Prix Recherche, a special award for research, was given to Pro-Xylane TM by L'Oreal. An active ingredient in the Lancome Absolue Bx line of products, it is heralded as a truly "green" beauty product—not only does it address signs of aging, but it is biodegradable, non-toxic and eco-friendly.
For the second year running, a Philippine jury was formed to award the local Prix d'Excellence de la Beaute. The jury was headed by Marie Claire Beauty and Fitness Editor Marie Calica, and was comprised of Preview Beauty Editor Agoo Bengzon, Cosmopolitan Beauty Editor Mariel Chua, Beauty Columnist for The Philippine Star's Y-Style section Jackie Cohen-Antonio, and Philippine Daily Inquirer Beauty Editor Ria Francisco-Prieto.
