Singers Christian Bautista, Reymond Sajor, and Aria Clemente
will be performing with The Philippine Youth Symphonic Band (PYSB) this Monday,
December 10. The PLDT Managers Club Inc. invites the public to support this
fundraising concert for the benefit of the PYSB and Gabay Guro, a group that
aims to train educators and teachers, and raise their teaching abilities.
Asia's Pop Idol will be performing with World Championships
of Performing Arts (WCOPA) Grand Champions, Reymond Sajor and Aria Clemente. The
PYSB Jazz Holiday will take place at the RCBC Auditorium, RCBC Plaza, Ayala
Ave., Makati City, on December 10 at 7:30 p.m.
Butch Jimenez, head
of PLDT's media and strategic communications department, writes his own
introduction for the benefit concert:
"We've always known that when it comes to music, Filipinos can't be beat.
But when we talk of symphonic orchestras, we always somehow associate it with the classy,
glitzy, Philippine Philharmonic, or the San Miguel Orchestra. But what if I told you,
that there are a bunch of underprivileged kids, being handled by a small foundation, who love
music so much they practice every week in a garage, take a jeep to their performances,
wear rubber shoes and oversized shirts, but are so well trained, their voices are at par
with the best in the world?
"Hard to believe isn't it? But it's true. That's the PYSB. All made up of
talented kids from low-income families who play great music. Their instruments are old, tattered, or
even borrowed, but it doesn't matter, when they play, they play like masters.
"It is this group that PLDT has decided to help by
sponsoring their concert, but at the same time, their foundation decided to help our own Gabay Guro foundation by giving
us 120 tickets to sell, all the proceeds of which go to Gabay Guro which in turn help
develop teachers and education for the next generation of children.
"So if you want to listen to great music, Christmas jazz, and see Christian Bautista, Reymond Sajor, and Aria Clemente, reserve the date, get a ticket and watch the
concert. You'll be helping kids who love music and teachers who love teaching. No better
way to start the Christmas season don't you think?"
Tickets are priced at PhP1,500, 700 and 350. For inquiries,
