Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano claims ABS-CBN played favorites in 2016 elections

Isiniwalat ni House Speaker at Taguig-Pateros First District Representative Alan Peter Cayetano kung ano ang personal issue niya laban sa ABS-CBN.

Ito ay ang pagiging unfair daw ng giant network sa vice-presidential candidates na tumakbo noong 2016 elections.

Sa panayam ng ilang media sa mambabatas kahapon, November 6, sinabi ni Cayetano na sa apat na naimbitahan ng istasyon noon para sa vice-presidential debate, hindi raw nabigyan ng parehong airtime ang iba sa kanila.

"Narinig ninyo na sa Pangulo, ako mismo [may issue].

"Apat kaming naimbitahang vice-presidential candidates sa dzMM.

“Yung isa nilabas sa 6:30 P.M. news, sa Bandila, sa Umagang Kay Ganda, at lunch time.

"Yung dalawa sa amin, dzMM and then Bandila.

“Yung isa sa amin, sa dzMM, hindi lumabas sa iba.

“So, may mga katanungan kami or issue.”

Hindi binanggit ni Cayetano kung sinu-sino ang tinutukoy niyang nabigyan ng special treatment ng istasyon.

Bukod sa kanya, naimbitahan din sa dzMM noon sina incumbent Vice President Leni Robredo, former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., at former senator now Sorsogon Governor Francis “Chiz” Escudero.

Sa panayam ni Cayetano sa ANC noong Lunes, November 4, sinabi nitong may personal siyang hinanakit sa istasyon dahil parang nangingialam daw ang ilang namumuno ng network noong 2016 elections.

Sabi niya, “I feel that certain instances in history and in the 2016 election na nakialam unjustly some sectors or some leaders of ABS.

“So, how do you sort it out?"

NETWORK FRANCHISE RENEWAL

May lagpas apat na buwan na lamang bago magtapos ang franchise to broadcast ng ABS-CBN sa March 2020.

Ngunit hindi pa natatalakay ng Committee on Legislative Franchises ang halos anim na panukalang batas na naglalayong mabigyang muli ang broadcast giant ng 25-year franchise.

Kasalukuyang hinihimay pa ng Kongreso ang P4.1-T 2020 national budget, bago nila talakayin ang ibang usapin, katulad ng renewal ng prangkisa ng ABS-CBN.

Pero nangako naman si Speaker Cayetano na tatalakayin nila ito bago magtapos ang 2019.

Ayon pa sa kanya, magiging patas sila sa usapin tungkol sa franchise renewal ng Kapamilya network kahit pa may banta si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na haharangin niya ito.
