"I think the next Miss Universe Philippines should be spicy."

"I feel a Miss Universe, when she walks into a room, she catches your attention right away.

"Sweet is something that's given na.

"You know, as an advocate, as a Miss Universe, you should be relatable to people, you should be authentic, and I think that makes you sweet.

"But you should also have that 'it factor,' that confidence.

"And that's when I think spicy dapat."

Nakausap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Enterntainment Portal) at ilang miyembro ng press si Pia sa Jollibee Spicy Tuna Pie event na ginanap noong February 21, Biyernes, sa The Green Lounge Events Place, San Juan City.

PIA'S ADVICE: BE PROUD OF YOUR FILIPINO ACCENT

Si Pia man ay ipinanganak sa Germany, ipinagmamalaki niyang siya ay "more of a Filipino."

"Kasi dito ako lumaki, I grew up here, I grew up in the province, in Cagayan de Oro.

"And I spend most of my life here so I adapted to a lot of Filipino culture, tradition, manners.

Kanyang pagpapatuloy, "I have a very Filipino accent, and back in the States, they actually like it. Like, they find it very endearing.

"Kasi ako, minsan nako-conscious ako because people here back home, I feel like I need to tone it down a little bit and sound more American.

"But over there, they don't really care so much about our accent, or not even for you having to have perfect English or grammar."

"It's more about the personality, your humor, your wit, how you present yourself," sabi niya.

"Don't focus too much on changing your accent or having perfect English because that's not what they're looking for.

"They're looking for somebody who can express themselves—whether perfect or not in Englishby showing your wit, your humor, and your grace."
