Crazy Rich Asians actor Nico Santos mourns stepfather's death; mom has tested positive for COVID-19

Labis na nagdadalamhati ngayon ang Filipino-American actor na si Nico Santos, 40, sa pagkamatay ng kanyang stepfather dahil sa COVID-19.

Positibo rin sa COVID-19 ang ina ng Crazy Rich Asians actor.

Nitong Sabado, March 28 (U.S. time), nag-post si Nico sa Instagram ng larawan ng kanyang stepfather at ina.

Himutok ng aktor, hindi nila nadamayan ang kanyang stepfather sa huling sandali dahil sa sakit nito.

Hindi rin malapitan at mayakap ni Nico ang ina dahil standard protocol sa isang COVID-19 patient na i-quarantine ito upang hindi kumalat ang virus.

Pagpapakilala ni Nico: “This is my stepdad Sonny and my mom Tita.

“My Tito Sonny passed away yesterday after losing his battle with COVID-19.”

Inalala ng aktor ang kabutihan ng kanyang stepdad.

“He was a kind, caring man. Friendly to a fault.

“He always greeted strangers walking past him with a chipper ‘Good Morning!’ and a big smile.

“He had a great laugh that filled the room with joy.”

Nagbigay rin siya ng detaye siya sa kalagayan ng inang si Tita.

Binanggit niya ang pinakamasakit sa kanya sa oras ng pagdadalamhati ng kanilang pamilya.

“My mom is also fighting COVID-19.

“For the time being, she has not required hospitalization.

“The loss of my stepfather is devastating but what has gutted me is that this pandemic has kept my family apart.

“We were unable to be with him during his last days.

“I can’t hold my mother as she mourns her husband.

“I can’t hug my brother as he contemplates a world without his father.

“I can’t wipe away the tears from my nephews’ eyes as they wonder why their Lolo Sonny isn’t here anymore.”

Bilang pagtatapos, nagpasalamat si Nico sa mga taong nagdasal at tumulong sa kanyang pamilya.

Nanawagan siyang ipagpatuloy ang pagdarasal para sa tuluyang paggaling ng ina.

Nagpaalala rin si Nico na mag-ingat ang lahat sa gitna ng pandemic.

Bago ito, nag-post na sa social media si Nico noong March 22, kung saan humihingi siya ng dasal.

Pero hindi siya nagbigay ng detalye kung para saan ang hinihingi niyang dasal.

OLIVER IN CRAZY RICH ASIANS

Si Nico ay nakilala sa kanyang role bilang Oliver T’sien sa 2018 Hollywood movie na Crazy Rich Asians, na base sa best-selling book ni Kevin Kwan.

Isa rin siya sa main cast ng ongoing American TV sitcom na Superstore.

Bida rito si America Ferrera, ang American actress na unang sumikat sa Hollywood TV series na Ugly Betty (2006-2010).

Si Nico ay isinilang sa Pilipinas at nagtungo sa U.S. kasama ang pamilya noong siya ay 16 anyos.

Nagsimula ang kanyang career sa showbiz sa U.S. nang mapasama siya sa late-night talk show na Chelsea Lately noong 2012 hanggang 2013.
