Ipinarating ni Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte ang kanyang pagbati sa bagong halal na president ng United States na si Joe Biden.

"On behalf of the Filipino nation, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte wishes to extend his warm congratulations to former Vice President Joseph 'Joe' Biden on his election as the new President of the United States of America," nakasaad sa statement na ipinadala ni presidential spokesperson Harry Roque sa GMA News at iba pang media outlets nitong Linggo ng umaga, November 8, 2020 (PH time).

Patuloy nito, "The Philippines and the United States have long-standing bilateral relations and we are committed to further enhancing the relations with the United States under the Biden administration."

Sa huling bahagi ng statement, ipinahayag ni Duterte ang hangarin nitong mas mapagtibay pa ang ugnayan ng Pilipinas at U.S. sa bagong administrasyon ni Biden.

"We look forward to working closely with the new administration of President-elect Biden anchored on mutual respect, mutual benefit, and shared commitment to democracy, freedom and the rule of law. Congratulations and we wish him all the best."

Nitong Sabado, November 7 (U.S. time), itinalaga bilang 46th President ng United States si Biden matapos ang apat na araw na bilangan ng boto.

Sa kasalukuyan, mahigit 75 million American citizens ang bumoto kay Biden. Umani naman ng mahigit 70.8 million votes ang kalaban nito, ang reelectionist candidate at incumbent U.S. President Donald Trump.

Dahil dito, nakakuha si Biden ng 290 electoral college votes mula sa 52 American states; 270 electoral votes ang kailangan upang manalo ang kandidato bilang presidente ng U.S.

Sa Twitter, ipinahayag ni Biden ang kanyang pasasalamat sa kanyang nasasakupan.

Pahayag nito, "America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans—whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me."

Vice president-elect naman ang kanyang running mate na si Kamala Harris.

Si Harris, na isang senadora mula sa California, ay ang first woman and first Black and Asian-American person na itinalaga bilang bise presidente ng U.S.

LOCAL CELEBS

Ipinahayag din ng ilang local celebrities ang suporta nila sa bagong presidente at bise presidente ng U.S.

Kabilang na rito si Bianca Gonzalez, na nag-tweet ng: "One of the most hopeful changes to come out of 2020 [Glowing star emoji] #BidenHarris2020"
