The way things are going, it seems like primetime leader Marimar is just pacing itself in preparation for a colossal finish. Surpassing its previous record of 47.9 percent set last October 23, the local adaptation of the popular Mexican telenovela registered a stunning 48.5 percent rating last Tuesday, November 13, and instantly made everyone wonder if attaining the elusive 50-percent mark is just a matter of time for the tandem of Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes.
The last time a show reached the 50-percent mark was on April 14, 2005 when Darna, topbilled by Angel Locsin, registered an amazing 52.1 percent rating on its fourth episode. All in all, Darna had two other episodes breaking the phenomenal figure—50.3 (April 12) and 51.5 (April 15) percent.
Shows trailing Marimar throughout the week also showed consistency. Controversial Dennis Trillo can still smile despite the issues concerning his personal love life as his show, Zaido, performed steadily to retain its usual bridesmaid finish. Zaido's best rating for the week was 38.8 percent registered last November 15.
GMA-7's news program, 24 Oras, in the meantime, remained untouched in third place. Although it was seriously threatened last November 15 when La Vendetta upped its rating to 32.8 percent against 24 Oras's 34.3 percent.
In the daytime contest, Daisy Siete's 16th season, "Tabachingching," emerged as the best among the lot for three consecutive days. Last November 13, Daisy Siete posted a 21 percent rating to beat Whammy! Push Your Luck's 20.5 percent for the top plum. November 14 and 15 were no different as Daisy Siete still reigned, based on the strength of its 22.4 and 27.1 percent ratings, respectively. The 17th season of Daisy Siete titled "Ulingling" will begin on Monday, November 19.
Even this early, ABS-CBN's Princess Sarah is already following Kokey's footsteps as a competitive opponent. Notching a 26.4 percent clip, Princess Sarah shot to the fifth spot last November 14 to beat TV Patrol World (26.1 percent), Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition 2 (25.6 percent), and Hwang Jini (22.4 percent).
